This is the only family I found with children born in IL in this
township. Is this the proper family?
If so, it doesn't appear based on ages for the children that there would
be room for another child who should be 18. Are you sure she wasn't one
of the girls? Who did she marry later?

Bev,
Thank you for your reply to the Old Newspaper Article I posted to the list today.
I have misplaced your email address...okay, I accidentally deleted it! I hope I can do this...but Bev, my parents think they knew your parents and I am supposed to ask you who your parents are?....My parents also knew the Judds and Beavers mentioned in the article.
Okay. I did it...I hope it's okay to ask a question like this. I will promise to post another article if it will cancel out the error of my way. :-)

fast-spreading e-mail worm, possibly from Japan, is encircling the globe and
flooding e-mail servers with excessive messages.
Fbound (w32.fbound.c@mm, also known as Zircon.C, DotJayPee, Fbound.b) is 12,288
bytes in length, and, unlike other recent worms, does not install itself on the
infected machine but instead runs from memory. Mac and Linux users are not
affected.
Fbound is capable of sending large amounts of e-mail but does not damage or
delete files on the infected computer. Because of the increasin
Thought I'd share the following article that I transcribed from my grandfather's notes. Got to thinking if any of you are snowed in this weekend it might be fun for you to read. I am in the process of compiling all of his notes and articles into a book...should be finished in about 20 years at this rate!
Anyway, he was Otis Benjamin Howard (1880-1949) and used to write a little column in the Granby News Herald in the early 40s. It is just a humorous look at life in Granby/Newton County at that time. "Oat"
These names were recorded as Switty in Marin Twp., Newton County per CD
Most, if not all, of Marin Twp. became part of Jasper County in 1841.
William Twitty was in Jasper County for the 1850 census, per CD.
1850, Jasper County could be an interesting census.

Does anyone have acess to an index of the Newton Co. 1870 census? I am
looking for Rhoda or Terresa Ferguson. Probably in Benton, Newtonia or Van
Buren Twp.
Thanks,
Nancy

Hello everyone,
The Franklin township is finished and available online at US-Census.org and
probably will soon be available on the Rootsweb server. I prefer the
US-Census site because they take the time to index all of the files. I hope
someone finds their ancestor with this new addition.
The enumerator of this particular township had handwriting which was
particularly difficult to read, his spelling was not very good, and this
census had tallying written over the names and, in that respect, this
township

Can anyone tell me the name of the Granby, MO newspaper that would have been
published in 1930?
I have a copy of my grandmother's obituary from that paper, but the only
letters in the banner on the back side are GRA and volume 10, as the obituary
was cut out from the paper.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Karen and I are very close to
finishing the 1900 Franklin township of Newton county. We had quite a
setback when, for some unexplained reason, after completing about half of
the township, our file became corrupted. It was unrecoverable and very
frustrating to lose about 20-22 hours worth of work. We got away from the
1900 for a while and instead completely did the 1850 census (much easier!).
Well, we got started again on Franklin and we are about 425 name away fro
Does anyone know if this cemetery has been canvassed?
I was told that the parents of Charles Wellington Moyer are buried there. I
don't have their first names, but they may have died between 1850-1870.
Also, Abner Henderson and his wife may be buried there. They also may have
died 1850-1870.

Good Morning Deb
This is so interesting. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am wondering to
Bacon Ridge. Where is it located in Grandby? I will be looking for the
next story. Let me know when you get the book done.
