Margaret,
On the 1850 census in District 53, McDonald County, MO, there is a Mary Moore and a James Bowles in dwelling 37, and a Mary Moore in dwelling 40. This is the info from the census:
Dwelling 37:

Dwelling 40:
Mary Moore, 30, Female, $100, born in Tennessee
Samuel H. Moore, 12, Male, Tennessee
Martha E., 10, Female, Tennessee
I hope this is what you were looking for!

Joy,
Isn't genealogy fun?
OK, I didn't know any of Sampson Bowles sibling until recently.
Sampson is my ggggrandfather, Susan Dodson is his wife & Thomas A Boles is
their son. Sampson & Susan had 10 children, lived in McDonald County,
Thomas stayed in McDonald Co, died in McDonald CO.
An acquaintances sent me a copy of a letter Mary had wrote to her
gggrandfather, Charles; who was a traveling Preacher in MO & KS. She told
Charles of their brother, Sampson death. The top of the letter has McDonald
Co,
I'm looking for a Charles Nathaniel Moore. He has used both his first & middle
names on census. Since I don't have access to (ancestry.com) the 1850
census, would you be kind enough to look him up. I'm guessing that he was
living in McDonald or Newton Co, MO.
On the 1860 census he was 22,
1870 census he was listed as 30,
1880 census he was 46.
In 1860 he was living in McDonald Co, MO., on the 1870 & 1880 census he was in Newton Co, MO.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Margaret
Does anyone on the list have access to a 1850 Newton, MO Federal Census?
I am looking for a Mary More (Moore) and her father James Boles (Bowles).
James wife Nancy passed away with cancer in 1849 in Newton Co.
Any information on the families would be greatly appreciated.
Margaret
I was still piddling around this afternoon -
at the web site www.genealogy.com under the SCHELL family forum,
there is a lady who stated she had a copy of the Antioch Cemetery listing.
Might be worth pursuing.
Joy/MO I have absolutely no connection to any of these families.

Margaret,
Yes, genealogy is fun! The mystery & I've always loved a good mystery
and the chase, plus the thrill of finding proof of my suppositions.
You are definitely blessed to have the letter telling of family facts.
But you could possibly be assuming incorrectly based on what you
want to believe. On the 1850 & 1860 census, it's a natural ASSUMPTION
that the younger people living with Mary are her children.
However, that's not fact. They only have the same names. It's up to
you to provide furth
Is anyone researching Mary BOLES / BOWLES MOORE?
She is a sister to my ggggrandfather, Sampson BOWLES.
I know Sampson & Susan BOWLES were in McDonald Co by 1843. I am not sure when Mary came to MO. They may have came with their parents James & Nancy Bowles who lived in McDonald Co, MO also; again not sure when they moved to the area. Sampson & Mary had a brother Charles; who was a traveling preacher.
I do not know what Mary's husband name was other than Mr Moore/More.
I have not seen him on any census
Do you have idea who Mary Bowles / Boles husband was? She was married to a
Mr. Moore. I do not know when Mary was born, but was born in TN. as were her children. I'm guessing between 1820 - 1825. By 1850 she was living in McDonald Co, not far from her father, James Bowles with her children. I do not know if Mr. Moore died before she moved to MO or after they had moved to the state. I know she was still living in 1865 in McDonald Co, but can't find her after that.
If you can help me, I'd appreciate any hel
Margaret,
Sorry about the typing error. I previously stated that there was a Mary Moore and James Bowles in Dwelling 37. However, James Bowles was the only one in that household.

That would be Antioch Cemetery (AKA Jacket Cemetery).
Sorry, I don't have a listing.

Mother had Bell in her name. Any help appreciated.

I have to ask, are you positive this is the same Mary? Instead of about
10 years difference, there is almost 22 years different. I do find it a
bit interesting that none of the names that are possibly children of
hers show up in McDonald Co. later. Did the boys go to war? Did they
all move?
What document proves Mary was in McD Co. in 1865? Not trying to be
nosey, just figure out the picture. There is a little cemetery shown on
the map between Jacket & Mountain which is about where I think she
Margaret,
I did not find him in those counties in Missouri for 1850. By the ages you
listed he must have been born around 1838, do you know what state he was born in
and who his parents might be?

Margaret,
Do you know when Mary died? On the McDonald County Library website, in the obituary section (under their genealogy site), there is a Mary Moore, wife of W.D. Moore, who has an obituary in the Pineville Herald on 11/14/1911. She was buried in the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, AR.
If this is your Mary, you can go to the library website and get the information to request a copy of the obituary. The website is www.librarymail.org
Just go to "Genealogy/History" then to the obituari
Margaret,
In the 1860 census for McDonald County, Mary Moore was born about 1812 in TN. Her son, Charles N. Moore was also born in TN about 1838.
There is a marriage record in Shelby County, TN, between a Charles Moore and Mary Bowles. However, their marriage date is 20 Dec 1827. There were many young brides in those days, so this could be a possibility.
