This may give them some clues as to the backdrop of the community, slave owners and lifestyle of that era and area! Another very cool search engine -- allows you to research collecti

6. [MOSTCHAR-L] Re:Mixed Marriages [1]
May I add something to what Le'Royce E. Bratsveen from the UK and Traci Wilson-Kleekamp has been saying over the last several months? There are many of us out here that might check back into their histories a bit. Recently there was an article that claims that we can all be traced to I believe 5 women in Europe, wish I had kept the article. Anyhow, many of you on this list know that I am a Funeral Director, but I don't work out of a Funeral Home. After I retired in 1992. I found that there was a cemetery
7. RE: [MOSTCHAR-L] Missouri Resources for African American Research ers [1]

I have been researching my family (African American) and I believe that we were not direct descendants of slavery, as quite a few of my black relations were "Free People of Color" and I believe that this was more or less the result of "relationships" between my black relatives and "non-colored" people. Now before everyone starts turning their noses up to what I am about to say.... please here me out. It w

Hey Listers The real hard work in tracing African American ancestors comes from reading the microfilm and transcribing a variety of documents. My website has a variety of documents available because of the volunteer efforts of other researchers. Washington and Franklin county black marriages and several others are available via the links below. http://www.missouri-slave-data.org/wasmarriage2.html http://www.missouri-slave-data.org/franklincomar.htm For other items: http://www.missouri-slave-data.org/Do
