hi Mike,
according to the book, "Claiborne County, The Promised Land" by Headley, page

"The second legislative session of the territory changed the name of
Pickering County to Jefferson, Jan 11 1802; & on the 27th day of the same
month, Jefferson was divided, & the northern part became Claiborne County.
Both the legislative & the executive branches of the territorial government
were agreed on erasing the Federalist name of Pickering County by naming the
2 divisions after the first Republic

Hi all. My "Genealogy Look-up" webpage has has been down for about 3 weeks. It is now back up and running. If you have tried to go to my webpage and have not been able to get to it, please try again. The link is listed below. This webpage is dedicated to offering free genealogy look-ups from the MANY sources which I own. Herlong Cemetery is where many of my ancestors are buried. I have been

well-kept and easily accessible. What family are you looking for?

I am looking for information about Ann Cogan who was the second wife of Charles Stephen Lee. My ancestor Martha Cogan Stuart, daughter of Thomas W. Cogan, named her oldest daughter Ann Lee. What is the relationship between these women?

I ask this question earlier this year but had no responses.
I want to come to Port Gibson area to visit my GGrandfathers burial site. Is Herlong a cemetery open to public? Can you get a site map to find graves, and what are the directions to the gate there from Port Gibson? Do you call someone anouncing your intentions? If so what is the phone number.
Thank you.

A week or so ago I asked about the marriages of Washington Irvin GOZA, Sr. Not only did I receive the marriage dates for him to Charlotte BUSH in 1874 in Copiah Co. and Clara GRAHAM in 1884 in Claiborne Co., but have since received information showing his wife as Victoria TUNNEL.

I also read that Port Gibson was at one time the Capitol of the Choctaw
