Clarke Co., MS was never part of Mobile Co., AL. The deeds you refer to showed John Johnston was "of Mobile Co., AL". The transaction took place in Clarke Co., MS, but John lived in Mobile Co., AL.

I am a member of the McGowan family from Enterprise. I am trying to establish the connection with your family in Shubuta. I would love talking with you more about it.
I am researching my gg-grandfather Richard Parker. I found him and his family living in Clarke County in the 1850 Census. His wife was Martha Wilson. They were married abt. 1848 in Mississippi. In the census there was a Jane Parker living with them that I am assuming is Richard's mother. Also in the census they had a daughter Sarah and a boarder with the surname Bankston living with them. If anyone has any information on the Parker's mentioned above I would love to hear from them.

Looking for information on the Scarbrough family which came from NC to GA
then to AL and ended up in Lauderdale/Clarke Counties Mississippi they are
all buried on the line between the two. My great great grandfather was Fred
L. Scarbrough born 1874 and married Callie Estelle Skipper in 1896. Their son
Fred L. married Dollie Mae Green.
Any information would be appreciated.

Junius was born abt 1820 in either Maryland or Virginia (conflicting census reports). During the 1830's and 40's he performed marriages in Greene Co, AL. Junius Newman married Mary A Phillips on 27 Feb 1847 in Perry Co, AL. (There was no Hale County seperating Greene and Perry until 1860's.) On the 1850 census, he and Mary are found in the household of Bryant Gulley, with no children, in Greene Co, AL, with both he and Mary claiming Maryland as their place of birth.
In 1855 he is appointed to the Living
I am researching the family of Josephine Elizabeth Feurox of Shubuta, MS.
Elizabeth is found on the 1870 census as being 14 years old. She is living
in the home of her uncle William Feurah and his wife, Elizabeth. (I realize
these names are spelled differently, but stay with me). William is the son
of John E. Fewox (another spelling) and his wife, Sarah. John is listed in
the 1860 census as being born in South Carolina.
Elizabeth married my great-grandfather, Joseph H. Spicer. Their first child
