Willis McDonald appears in the 1810 Jefferson Co. Census with two males over 21, one male under 21, one female over 21, four females under 21 and 2 slaves. Jonathan McDonald, in the same Census had one male over 21, two males under 21, one female over 21, one female under 21 and no slaves. Neither appeared in the 1805 Censusof Jefferson County. Philip Alston was in the MS area prior to Spanish control. He had a British West Florida Land Petition in Nov. 1776 for 1100 a. at Petit Gulph. Arrived in Aug. 1773; wife and 3 children, 16 negroes. Philip Luis Alston was in the 1792 Spanish Census for the "Districto de Buffalo Creek". 1200 a. 4 horses, 100 cows, 48 sheep, 100 hogs, 2 female births, 1 military, 3 weapons. 1 white male, 15 to 50; 1 mulatto male, 1 to 15; 1 negro male, 1 to 15; 4 negro males, 15 to 50; 4 negro females, 1 to 15; 4 negro

I don't have that book ... the late Katherine Tucker sent me that information after she had been to a library in Arkansas ... I always like to have a photo copy of that type in info as well as a copy of the title page so it is somewhat validated. Perhaps your library could order you a copy? Ann

Thomas L. Norris appears in the 1805 Jefferson Co. Census with one male over 21, one male under 21, four females and six slaves. Also listed in this census was James Norris (living next to Thomas). Thomas apparently died in 1810 (see court case in 1837 below). In the 1810 Jefferson Co. Census, Hannah Norris had no males over 21, two males under 21, one female over 21, two females under 21 and seven slaves.
