3. [MSJEFFER-L] McCormick; Carmichael; Garrett; Dawkins [1]
It's been a long time since I posted my names. I'm researching McCORMICK, CARMICHAEL, DAWKINS and GARRETT. My g-g- grandparents, Daniel and Nancy McCORMICK CARMICHAEL, migrated from Richmond Co.,NC, first to Alabama where they stayed a few years, then to Union Church, Jeff. Co., MS, probably in the late 1830's-early 1840's. The McCORMICKS and CARMICHAELS immigrated from the same area of Appin, Argylleshire, Scotland, in the late 1700's. Their daughter, my g-grandmother, Flora, married Josiah GARRET

George Lewis, You just made my day or shall I say night. I do want to thank you so much. 8. [MSJEFFER-L] Dromgool/Alston divorce [1]
By an act of the MST Legislature, in Extra Session in 1805, Jame Dromgool was divorced from his wife, Franky, on July 24, 1805. In "Becoming Southern", Jame and Franky lived near the present Memphis, until he went to visit Nashville on business. When he came home he found Franky had sold their property and moved south, behaving in a fashion not consistent with a married woman. George R. Lewis

Diane, Looks correct to me, except the name of Elizabeth Dromgoole should be Mary Elizabeth Dromgoole Martin, b. 1827 and d. after 1880 in Jefferson County. Does anyone have the names and dates of birth for Mary Elizabeth's siblings??? Tony Miller in Calabasas, CA
13. Re: [MSJEFFER-L] Martin, Stampley, Dromgoole [1]
Diane, I can't find my software to view my marriage CDs to see if there was another marriage listed for Frankey Alston Dromgoole. It was on the computer that failed recently and I'm still searching. I suppose I could load FTM and look at the CDs but this has limitations and I would rather keep looking until I find the old GRS software. Frankey is listed as Mrs. Franky/Frankey Dromgoole in land claim 561for land on Burrow's Creek in Jefferson County, signed on 12 March 1804. Tony
14. Re: [MSJEFFER-L] Rodney, MS Cemetery [1]
Nichole, I don't have cemetery list but history of the church. The one pamphlet does mention a few outstanding members and it covers all the pastors. Another is just two pages of research notes of my grandfathers but it is very interesting as it tells a little more on the church history. I will be glad to send you a copy of the above. Send me your snail-mail privately (sorry no scanner yet). Maryp@cableaz.com ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Tuesd
15. Re: [MSJEFFER-L] Rodney, MS Cemetery [1]
Nancy, I don't know about the death records. However, my grandfather Allen Washington Duck was the Presbyterian Minister at Rodney from 1916 to 1923. I have a small pamphlet he helped put together on the history of the church, and a recent Oxford American Article on Rodney. I also have his research notes that I've shared with a few on this list. The Presbyterian Church at Rodney is now owned by UDC and they have greatly restricted allowing people inside. They do have a caretaker that keeps on eye on t

24. Re: [MSJEFFER-L] Dromgool/Alston divorce [1]
George & Dorothy, Your both a great help. Seems that James Dromgoole m/2 Jan McKey in Jefferson County on 14 Aprl 1808. It would seem the Miss Eveline Dromgoole, b. abt 1807 and d. 25 Jan 1852 tht lived with the family of Richard Valentine and was buried in the Compton Cemetery must be a daughter or James and Jan. Did they have other children? For James Dromgoole & Frankey Alston I have the following children: (not sure of order) 1) Mildred 2) John McCoy b. 1790 3) Margaret (Margurite) 4) Philip G.

Hi All, I have been going checking my records and have become confused about these early families. Does anyone have information on Martin, Stampley and Dromgoole families 1850 and earlier? I am trying to figure out the parents of Elizabeth Dromgoole (born about 1827) who married Martin Miranda Martin (born about 1820)? Thank you, Diane Hall
