Usually it was a relative of either the bride or the groom.

Yes, got the letter. I think that is the branch I am looking for. Amos L. O'Neal married Mary Generose Geoghegan 30 Apr 1877 in Jefferson County. Then they moved almost immediately to Tarrant County, TX where I found them in 1880. I have not found them since. There was a younger brother of John P. on the 1860 Census for Jefferson County with the initials A L C O'Neal. This child was listed as Lycurgus O'Neal in 1870. Another mystery to solve. Generose was my husband's great grandfather's baby sist

Ritty WILLETT, Granddaughter of James COOK & Margaret HAWTHORNE named in Will of James COOK who died, 1812 in Jefferson Co., MS. Her mother's name may have Mary COOK, father's name unknown. James & Margaret (HAWTHORNE) COOK, were from Effingham Co., GA- We do not know if Ritty WILLETT was still in GA or if she moved to MS with her Grandparents. I have just started a website at www.genealogyclassifieds.com and would like to see if anyone wanted to list any old genealogy books or publications here. Its free and hopefully someone may have a book or society magazine someone else needs as well as putting some of the original cost you incurred back into your own pocket for new genealogical books or publications purchases. FYI, I started this because there are a lot of out of print books I am looking for and cant find anywhere to get them. Hopefully th

17. RE: [MSJEFFER-L] Mississippi Marrage Certificates 1830-1860's [0.986137]
No Not usually--only if one or both of the spouses is underage. They usually list a bondsman and this might be a parent, a friend, a sibling etc of either of the bride or groom. There are no spaces on the court records into which the marrying couple's parents are listed as a matter of routine. Ann and everyone, There are two book locater sites that are excellent. Just place the name of the book in the search box and it will give you a list of places with available copies. I'd been looking for Lumber River Scots for years, too, and found it just a few months ago by entering it in one of these sites. I've found several other hard-to-find books, as well. The key is to do a search often, as hard-to-find books don't last long when they become available. www.bookfinder.com www.biblio.com Nancy Nan
