How wonderful to have found all the information on the church and it's history. I too am looking for church information on Poplar Hill AME Church and there just does not seem to be any records about the place except what I have known for years...and that is not much. So, if any one out there has information on Poplar Hill AME Church please send it along.

Does anyone recognize the Ritty Willit in my GGGGrandfather James Cook's
Will- signed in
Jefferson Co., MS- we believe Ritty is the daugther of Jame's oldest
daughter "Mary"- who
apparently was dead by 1812- we have no additional information on who our
Ritty married
or where she lived. I am sending the entire Will so you can see the other
names associated with
this family. Appreciate any help so much. Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick

I get excited when I find any mention of him. I thought someone else might
find these names of interest (or just the fact that they expressed such
approval of their elected officials!)

Dear Editor:
Please remind your readers that the Democratic Party
is composed of liars, thieves, scoundrels, curs,
foreigners, cutpurses, pagan idolators, and persons of
dubious ancestry. The country is surely doomed unless
all honest men rise up and VOTE WHIG.
Thank you for setting the record straight.

Hi Betty
The graveyard you are looking for is off Noland Road?? sec 46 - T10N - R1E.?
George R. Dent's?gravestone states he died at the age of 82 years, 4 mos and 6 days ... died on 15 July 1862?
Pricy Dent, his wife, ?is also buried there.? she died on 29 Aug 1851? at the age of 68 years.? She was native of Maryland
There are 3 other Dents buried in that graveyard.
There is some history of the Dents compiled by the late Gordon M. Wells.? It was published in the JOURNAL OF MISSISSIPPI HISTORY, VOL. XXXI
(Just kidding. A little extra silliness for the
silliest election season in my lifetime.)

Help Please,
Some time ago I read a posting on the Dent family Genealogy forum: It was a
listing for George R. Dent Cemetery located in Jefferson county. Years ago
my dad took us to see this cemetery- but that was in the time when I didn't
take pictures.
Is there anyone brave enough, smart enough, curious enough to go to this
cemetery and t

This is the exact graveyard I would love to see and photograph. George R.
Dent and Pricey Dent were the parents of Emily Marion Dent Noland. Emily
made a home in 1860 for my great great grandmother (widow) Asseneth S.
Montgomery Dent. Check the 1860 census. Asseneth was in Jefferson county in
1850 as a widow. Have been trying to discover where her husband died. He
and Asseneth made a land transaction in Yalobusha County in 1846--and that
is the end of records for Joseph Manning Dent Jr,as far as we know
