I had at least three ancestors who lived in Lauderdale County after the Civil War. William Asa Whitlock, Sr. & Jr. and John Lasetor Whitlock. I have some good info and would like to hear from someone who is researching these folks. Thanks, Dorothy
I have checked my family records and I do not have a John Wesley Brown in my family tree....at this time.....it is, of course, possible that additional research may uncover a branch that includes him. I do have two David Wesley Browns (Jr & Sr.). I am sorry that I can't be for more help for you.

William Smith and wife, Sarah Philpot Smith, moved to MS from Bibb Co., Al. before 1850 as well as their son, Wilkin Smith and his wife Martha Broadhead. Wilkin and Martha supposedly died about 1853 and left orphan children - they were in Lauderdale Co., MS at that time. I am trying to find info on those children and would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thanks.

Elizabeth, this sounds like my family. My grandfather's name was Amos Bolivar Crane. His first son was born Andrew Franklin Crane, but he later changed it to Frank A. Crane. He was married to Azalea Pickett/Crane (second marriage). They had two children Andrew Frank Crane, Jr. and Ouida Crane. If you think this is the family that you are looking for, I would like to hear from you. How are you connected with this family? Jewel

Southern Ancestral Trails:
I recently came across information that my GreatGreat-grandfather purchased
land in Lauderdale County, MS. Was wondering if anyone might have a
Township/Range map of this area that wouldn't mind scanning the area of this
land and sending it to me as an email attachment. If so, I'd really
appreciate it. If you do not have a scanner, if you could identify a marker
(town, street, or river) in the center of the area, I'd still be able to
know the general location of this land and where my ancestors lived while
