This is for Tanya.
Most of my Knowles lived and died in Mississippi. Later generations went to Texas. If you are interested in this family, go to WorldConnect at RootsWeb and type in this key word in the database slot; camberly. The earliest Knowles on this line is Samuel (E)Lihu Knowles born in England.

The Cemetery Books goes back as for as the first person recorded as being
buried in
the named cemetery. In most every cemetery, there are unmarked graves,
unreadable
toombstones and more.
If your ancestors died before 1870 in Old Tishomingo County,
[the year, old Tishomingo county was divided into Alcorn, Prentess
and Tishomingo Counties]
They could be buried in Alcorn or Prentiss counties.
There three Riggs surnames in the cemetey book. All three are buried in
Rutledge Salem Cemetery.
Riggs, Doyle K
Regarding the Tishomingo County Cemetery books, would it be possible to
check the surname RIGGS for any burials? Also could you tell me how far
back these records go? Thank you so much.

This is one of the best sites I have found for genealogy and history information. No matter where we look, there will be some entries in which we, as individuals, are not interested. It is quite easy to dump those, and does a disservice to all to post objections. It seems inevitable that many people feel a need to come to the defense of the material, filling everyone's mailboxes with repetitive thoughts in support of the data. For almost two weeks (and ad nauseum) I have been receiving daily e-Mails re

Or was Jessie a child of William Dewitt Tyra's from a previous marriage?
Jessie Ona Tyra was born February 20, 1892. ????
Sarah Ann Rosetta Massey Tyra' marriage to Joseph Porter Hester was April 26,

Hi,
This is a purely technical question. Why do I receive several blank attachments each time I receive the Digest form of the list? Am I missing something?

Thanks.
We know that William Dancer, son of Samuel, died of pneumonia in 1862.
Henry Dancer, son of Samuel, was discharged at age 44 because he was in bad
health.
Stephen Pinkney Dancer, son of Samuel, was wounded at the Battle of Gaines
Mill and received a pension from Oklahoma. He was living in OK when the
pensions became available.
Samuel Dennis Dancer, son of Samuel, was on his way to enlist for the South
when he was arrested by the Union Army. He was given a parole paper and
released. He did not

Wanda, there was an article in the Family Trees section of the Tupelo Daily
Journal on 02/08's Sunday edition advertising a new book "The Confederate
Dead in Brooklyn" by John Walker. I ordered the book and the only person
from Iuka is a Augustus L. Riggs - and one from Corinth - T.C. Robertson.
There are short bios for each one - here is the opening for Augustus L.
Riggs: "One record states that he was 32 while a second states that he was
34 when he was mustered into service on march 6, 1861, at Iuka, Miss
