I am referring to William who was father of Timothy, Elizabeth, Anna/Anne
(mine!), Esther and Henry. Timothy's mother, apparently (underscore the
word), died and William then married Elizabeth Wells, who was mother of the
four younger children.

PS Anna/Anne married Thomas Lanier and their son, Murphy Lanier, was my
gggrandfather.

I went to Frankfort, KY yesterday and was looking at a file that was
supposed to be on the MURPHY family and was struck because of the
information contained about my MOORMAN family.
I will abstract here what I found and would welcome any help with this one
on how these families were connected. There was just a small part of the
history on the Moorman family below in a huge stack of Murphy papers.

Are you referring to Michael, Miles, William or Richard Murphrey of
Duplin/Sampson Co., NC?
Sue
Dear Sue and Other Murphrey Researchers,
Right now there has been one Murphrey who has ordered the DNA test. The
gentleman descends from William Murphrey [born mid 1600's] of Isle of Wight
VA, with descendants migrating to Dobbs County NC.
It is possible that other lines of Murphrey share a common ancestor.
Traditional research has taken many researchers as far as they can go. DNA
testing by members of the other lines can determine whether [or not] there
was a common ancestor.
A huge benefit in the DNA

It appears that the Duplin/Sampson Co., NC Murphrey's also descend from the
Isle of Wight Murphrey line. Part of this line settled in Duplin along
with some of the Chesnutts from Isle of Wight who also married into the

Good Morning Murphy Fans,
A couple of weeks ago I posted a note to say that a Murphy/Murphrey DNA
group was started through Family Tree DNA.
Several people have already been tested -- although the results are still in the
hopper. Waiting is always the hard part. Test results are now taking 5-6 weeks.
When the results are in, we will have the "fingerprint" for the Archibald Murphey
line of Caswell County NC, as well as a MURPHREY of the Isle of Wight line
and a couple of MURPHYS whose ancestry is und

Hi, just wondering if anyone out there is connected. My grandfather was William Murphy born approx. 1910. His mother perhaps re-married and became Booth. Some of the family moved to Canada Violet McCoombe? Perhaps this is ringing a bell with anyone also tracing murphy surnames? His brothers were Jack and Herbie. All were born in Belfast. Any wider family connections please get in touch. Thanks!
Hi;
I am tracing the MURPHY's from Baltimore. The only thing I have is Elizabeth Murphy b/ 1855 m Louis C. Deems b/ 1850 d/ Dec. 4, 1923(my g/grandparents) Elizabeth's parents were Joseph b/Mar. 1835-d/Aug. 1914 and Harrietta A.M.b/ 1849-d/ 1914? Murphy. Anyone else reseaching this family? Could sure use some help.

Dear Mark,
Adoption isn't such a bad option when you consider how many are convinced
that their Murphy ancestor was probably an alien from another planet and
that planet's records are not yet on Ancestry.com.
