I have a connection with a James MURPHY from Co Wexford, Ireland, but he was
christened on 23 Mar 1823!
May I ask whether (eg from his death certificate) you know the names of your
James MURPHY's parents?

Hi Dee,
I looked at the message you sent to the MURPHY-ROOTS-web, and my
husband his Mother always call him ASKEW,
And she writes it just like the one written, with Maggie, at the end, and
another thing, I also have a cousin , in St Vincent, who is a Murphy,
and They call him CORLTY, I know that is not his real name, its a nickname,
his real name is CALBERT,
But why they call him by CORLTY, I really don't know, and when he is
signing his name , would you believe it that he writes CORLTY CA
I am trying to find information about my great grandfather, John Paul Murphy, born in l849, married Elizabeth Mahoney Murphy, (don't know the date). I do not know the date or place of his death. She was born in Vinegar Hill, Illinois, so he possibly was born there also. She died 24 Sept. 1928 as a widow, in East Dubuque, Illinois. Would anyone have any information about John Paul, or his parents from Ireland?

List,
I am looking for a Murphy family that would have had a son born 1824 in
some county in Alabama. This is my "brick wall" with my William Murphy. He first
shows up on a 1850 census of Fayette Co. Tn. with wife, Charlotte Brown b.
1825 of
Hardeman Co. Tn. They had 3 children in Tn. before migrating to Wood Co. Tx.
about 1851. They were married in Boliver, Hardeman Co. Tn. on Nov.15, 1843.
I know of no middle initial or name, and do not know parents or siblings.
The 1880 census says born - Al Al A
Yo Daryl,
Thanks for your reply. Sure wish I did know my James Murphy's parents names. The
death cert. at the time in Chicago didn't list them, only county of birth.
For all I know, your James Murphy christened in 1823 could be mine. However, odds are
he isn't. The age on the death cert and from U.S. censuses as early as 1860 would
indicate he was probably born in the neighborhood of 1834.
Did you know that in Griffith's Evaluation of Co. Wexford in, I believe, 1855 there were over
100 JAMES Murp
Hi everyone!
Do any of you have a John Murphy who maybe disappeared...or you believe he
was killed, or was taken by aliens, etc....etc....etc....???
John Murphy, from Opelika, AL (Lee County) was born 1859 in Russell County
(Lee wasn't formed yet) Alabama. His sister was Lavonia O. Murphy (b. 1866
Lee County, AL) who married John Hodge on April 10, 1892. John and Lavonia's
parents were William and Sarah L. (Dickson) Murphy. We believe Sarah died
sometime around the birth of Lavonia, as Will
My brick wall is Basil G. Murphy. You would think with a name like Basil
