Howdy: At the meeting for the Volunteers for the new Family History Center it was announced that due to the Marin County Fair, the Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week. Volunteers are not to report for their shift again until next week. For those of you interested in using the Family History Center, give us a bit more time to complete our Volunteer training before coming to use the center. There will be an announcement when we are more ready to serve you. If you are interested in Vol

I had heard about the award too and am just delighted for Jana. She is a most talented writer and I have enjoyed everything she has contributed to the Kin Tracer. I haven't yet read this article but understand it is quite instructional and well as great reading. Cathy

===================================================================== Along Those Lines: "A Summer Reading List" by George G. Morgan ===================================================================== Each year about this time I come up with a list of some of the better books I've come across in the last few months that I think you might enjoy reading when you may have some leisure time. Maybe you're lucky enough to have a porch swing or a hammock to relax in, or maybe you slather yourself with SPF 4

10. Re: [MarinGenSoc] REMINDER: Tomorrow, Thursday, 6/17/04 is MCGS Computer Interest Group Meeting [1]
Lauren, June 17th must be a zoo in your family....unless all celebfrate at once and together! That is amazing! Thanks fofr the most interesting CIG presentation. Seeing those sites, bigger than life, above our heads is awe inspiring! Maybe a sub-talk, before the central one, could be how to really connect your laptop to those bays (or whatever they are called) in the round-table at the MCF room at Hangar 5. There seemed to be a lot of different opinions about how it all goes together. Anyone join
11. RE: [MarinGenSoc] MCGS Member wins 2004 Writing Award! [1]
Howdy: Hrmmmmm.... no wonder this one won! I remember Jana sharing details of the mysterious disappearence of her grand aunt as they began to reveal themselves in 1998. 'Tis a tasty story indeed. Full of juicy bits. And she tells it well. I look forward to seeing a copy of the winning article. I would hope they will run some of the wonderful photos Jana has to compliment it. It would be great if they could also include a photo of Jana and her cousin, reunited after all these years and 2 generation

A Viking explorer returned home from a voyage and found his name missing from the town register. His wife insisted on complaining to he local Civic Official who apologised profusely saying, "I must have taken Leif off my census."

(blush) why thank you for noticing Lauren! Yes, it is all very exciting! It is my first attempt to "put the flesh on the bones of my skeleton" with success. The article is planned to be in the Sept/Oct. issue of Ancestry magazine, but the details are not yet complete. Meanwhile, I highly recommend the process to you all. Telling my story in an way that would not bore readers in under 3000 words was a *real* challenge! I ended up four words short after many many revisions and learned lots about making ever
19. Goldie's virus alert gm [1]
My grand daughter notified me today that she had found a virus someone had attached to her computer. The virus attached to everyone in her address book and to her C drive. She taught me how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it. I did find the virus on my C drive. Since you are in my address book, you will probably find it in your computer too. The virus is not detected by Norton or McAfee. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by b

Thanks for all your kind words! Lauren, I agree with you regarding Ancestry - I have contacted the "person in charge" and am waiting for a reply. Carl has his "walking papers" to be "on vacation" the week Jim and Rosey are here and I have the camera ready. My USA cousins (children of Dad's brother) are all coming up to camp in the orchard and all the family agrees that while Grama and Edie likely had their own reunion upon Grama's death, none of us doubt their hand in finally accomplishing the reunion. Now
