James McCall (ca 1732-1783) died in Shippensburg and left land to son
William in his will. Wife was Jean Reynolds.
William, ca 1758-ca 1810 m. to Mary ? had inherited land and a
fulling mill. Is there a will? What became of the mill?
Their son, William, ca 1778-ca 1840, m. Jane Brady and by 1807 was in
Indiana Co.
I'm looking for proof of the latter William being the son of the
first William. Does anyone know of anything which will prove that?
Does anyone have any information on the first William
Ross McCall was on ET from the Cannes Film Festival last night. He was last
seen on "Bones" this season.
While looking for Lt Col James McCall last week, I looked thru a bound
book on marriages in Old 96 and James McCall married Elizabeth Luckie in 1760.
This agrees with index card at Abbeville Court House for James McCall's Will.
It states that John Luckie was brother of Elizabeth. John Luckie married a
Harris and was in the James McCall Militia from list at Battle of Kettle Creek.

Subject: Harry McCall
May have found the relative of Lt Col James McCall. Found Harry McCall on ysearch and I believe he is the first cousin of Dr John of Texas. His DNA is three genetic distances from mine and I believe he traces his ancestry to James McCall who died in 1797. The family has his sword and his family moved to NC with the Harris's.(same as Lt Col James) The family believes he served with the Swamp Fox. I
Hi, Ruth,
My McCalls, of Scottish and/or Irish descent are from Pennsylvania too.
Have you the names of any of the siblings or other children of the people
you are looking for?
I have lots of Williams, James, and Johns. But I've gotten only as far back
as my great-great-grandfather, John McCall, born PA 1809, died 1882, PA.
This John married Ann (no maiden name known) and he may be the son or
grandson of John Thomas McCall. More likely, he is the grandson of John
Thomas' brother William. Any other
I, and certain others just love the excitement. Please continue to route everything through McCall-L, we all have a delete key, but this gets it archived on the RootsWeb.com, from whence it becomes searchable in, we hope, perpetuity. I have been helped greatly by my ability to go back and search the archives of many rootsweb lists. Please try to keep the discussion there. This doesn't mean you cannot continue your digest version. But there are those of us who really want the full raw info.
Thanks,

I have no siblings for William (1778), the son of William & Mary.
Children of James McCall (per his will) were William, John, James,
Ezra, Jeanett & Nancy. Other than names, I have nothing on them.

Found Jim McCall in catalog with the Stoney Mountain Boys. They were the
first Bluegrass band to play at Carnegie Hall. "Pretty Polly" was their most
popular song. Does anyone know more?

Hi Mary,
Lt Col James McCall died in 1781 and his land was near Long Cane, SC. I
have his will and there is no James listed as his child. But if your James came
to NC with the Harris's, then he is a cousin? I'll have to go back and find
out the source.

So much for global warming,we're breaking the low temperature record this
morning of 42 degrees in 1960.
Floyd McCall lives in Tampa FL and is chairman of Concord Management
Systems. From photo he is young for this position. Salute!
Sent first page of The McCalls of Ireland to Norris in Chase City. He
had found Robert McCall his ancestor from Burke Co and Caldwell Co libraries in
a book "Here Will I Dwell". Others including ,Paige, might find this book
informative.
Visited the cementary,
I have been searching for many years to identify the parents, siblings and birthplace of my great-grandfather, James Dewitt McCall b. 1810 SC. He lived in Pike Co., AL which later became Bullock Co., AL. He is in the area census from 1840 to 1870. There is a McCall family in Pike Co. during this time and records indicate that they came from Cumberland Co., NC....but I have not been able to connect them.
There is an Alexander McCall/McColl in Pike Co. by 1830 with a son the right age to be James. Who
There is no McCall on the passenger list of the Mayflower. I think this is
one of those family stories that got passed down but was never confirmed. The
earliest McCall I know of is James Mycall who was one of the Scottish
prisoners brought to the Saugus Iron works in 1650. There were several other people
with similar names on some of the other prison ships, and there was the James
who ended up in Maryland quite early. There were also other boats named the
Mayflower, but they would not have come in

Remember that you do have a librarian on the list. Not a professional genealogical researcher, mind you, and still fully employed, mind you, but if someone posts a citation, even a somewhat garbled one, I can usually find enough bibliographic information to enable your friendly local public librarian to locate the work in question.
Of course there are items located only in "personal collections" which you public library will not be able to borrow on your behalf. You will have to locate the curr
Hi Ron,
I know of no connection between our James McCall and any Harris family until 1927 when my uncle Lane B McCall married Nora Irene Harris, daughter of John Calvin Harris and Nora O'Neal King. As far as I know from my own research and that of my cousin Gary E. Young, whose research I'm sure you are familiar with, arrived in the Mecklenberg County, NC area about 1765, a widower with three children, John, David and Elizabeth. No attached Harrises. Probably from York County, PA.

The Family hisory library seems to have this, but I cannot confirm film roll and frame numbers. Their site is very slow tonight.
More later,
