Thanks. The Valley of Virginia did see some marauding Indians in the French
and Indian War, and militias from Amherst and Albemarle did track them, so Va.
is possible; but not with the locality names you give. Sure would like to
find the root of my McCalls. I sometimes speculate it was a Scotish merchant
who was in this area.

Found a memo between James McCall and Gary Young on John Thomas McCall and
it seems like a different person than previous family history.
John Of Chartiers Twp, Washington Co. Pa also named his eldest
son,William, though erroneous family histories show John as the eldest, from studies of
will and other documents. Of course, he is supposed to be from York County,
which is probable and there was a William McCall there who received fairly early
land warrants about 1750's., who could be father of Joh
Robert Britton copied these MI's for us. He lives in Sanquhar with his
wife Helen Mccall. In the copy I have, it doesn't state the wife of John McCall
of Crawick Mill. Maybe Robert still has the original MI.

Lots of new Mccall info yesterday. DNA tests connect Sir John, Thomas of

I have never heard a reply to my queries from any McCall descendant yet.

Hi Sandy,
I've been looking back at Bedford County in this article and it may be in
Pa. Places like the Juniata River, Morrisons Cove, and Frankstown in the story
make me question Va? So I need to do more research.

Lots of info on first three tested McCalls. Thomas of Isle of Skye is a
good candidate for ancestor of Kings of Connaught, having matches with
O'Flannigans and O'Connors ancient Irish DNA. John McCall of Dumfriesshire is matched
with three from County Down, home of Saint McCall and Sir John at the 12 marker
level is matched with Mc Donald,McCains,McGuires and McDaniels plus a few
Colsons (note that they are members of a Corson Family Assoc.) As more of our

A History of the McCall Family was on file at York Co Historical Society.
This file was on John Thomas Mccall, thought to be first member of his family
to come directly from Scotland, near Glasgow in 1755. He settled on the
Schuylkill River about 15 miles from Philly. He married Miss Jean or Jane Young about
1763. In 1787 he moved to Washington Co. Pa near Cannonsburg. He died in
1810. He may have had a brother William? Most of this history is about his son
John McCall II born 2/23/1765, who served

Ron McCall's recent info. is so maddening. My McCall line, of Scottish
descent, is loaded with Johns, Alexanders, James, and Williams. Several of
my McCalls have the middle initial A. As far as I know all came from
Pennsylvania and, later, some in New Jersey. But, I haven't gotten any
further back than my great-great-grandfather, John McCall. This John
married Ann (no maiden name known) and he may be the son or grandson of the
John Thomas McCall Ron mentions. More likely, he is the grandson of
