1. Re: [McQUEEN] John McQueen - Sumter County, Georgia, 1840 [1]
Joyous... If this isn't my John McQueen he somehow seems close to him. Could you give me a citation on this census listing... precinct & page number? Also... I am not sure exactly how, but I think that my McQueens were connected to the Presnells who were probably descendants of the Huguenot Jacques Presnell of the settlement in Manakintown, VA. If this is "my" John McQueen, it is possible that Jennett is a Presnell. A question is... Was that her who was living in Robeson Co., NC, in 1860? Thanks

My Alexander emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland about the year 1772, and settled near Albany, New York on a piece of land called the Gore. This is now Columbia County, N. Y. With him was his wife, Isabel, son James, and two daughters of whom we have no further record. In the 1790 /Census of Montgomery Co., N.Y., Caughnawaga, appears the Family of Alexander McQueen with 2 males 16 and upward and one female. Evidently Alexander and wife and son. The last mention of Alexander is in the 1810 Census of Mayfie

I am afraid my Alexander did not emigrate to America until approx. 1870 He moved from one side of America to the other. There is apparently a story saying that he died leaving a small fortune that is supposedly waiting for someone to find. Somehow I'll believe that when I see it. At the moment I will be glad to find if he ever married and when and where he died just so I can tidy up some loose ends on this branch of my tree. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Greeley" T

20. [McQueen] FW: Ancestry.com Partners with Sorenson Genomics RE: McQueen DNA Study [1]
Hello Everyone, I just received this email from the laboratory conducting our DNA study. For those of you participating in the DNA study, I would like to know your opinion on the new partnership with Ancestry.com and the inclusion of our study. At this time, I do not have a recommendation. I would like to contact Relative Genetics to ask more questions and have other concerns addressed. Please post to the list or email me privately at skendall@kc.rr.com. Thanks Scott Dear Relative Genetics Valued Custo
21. [McQueen] Ancestry.com Partners with Sorenson Genomics [1]
While attending the NGS Conference in Richmond, VA, I visited the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation booth and picked up a participation kit for the DNA/Genealogy project. This entailed swishing my mouth with a small sample of mouthwash for 45 seconds and spitting it back into the plastic container, placing it back in a ziplock bag, and putting it in a furnished mailer. The paperwork required is a minimum four generation pedigree chart, and a signed consent form. The purpose of this study is to
22. Re: [McQueen] Ancestry.com Partners with Sorenson Genomics [1]
This is the company that owns Relative Genetics. The only bad thing about this if you locate a match, since the participants are anonymous, you can not contact them to discuss the information. I did the same thing over a year ago and my results still have not been posted. 23. Re: [McQueen] Ancestry.com Partnership [1]
It sounds like Ancestry (The Generations Network) will now be the front-end for Sorenson's genetic genealogy business, with Sorenson just doing the lab work. It looks like all the surname projects will be migrated automatically. If individual "testees" want to opt out, they can. However, since no one would be able to find them as a match, I am not sure what would be the benefit of opting out. DNA results are valuable in comparison with many others, not in isolation. At least, that's my take on it after

25. [McQueen] Relocating the McQueen DNA Study [1]
Based on information I have received from the studys participants, we are relocating the McQueen DNA study from Relative Genetics to DNA Heritage (www.dnaheritage.com) On 18 June 2007, several members received a notice that Relative Genetics was partnering with Ancestry.com. I inquired about the transition. Relative Genetics will be phased out by July 15th and Ancestry.com will take over. Relative Genetics, Ancestry.com or their parent company, The Generation Network, have not released specific "terms
