from 1777 until 1825. (Back then that was Montgomery County, Va I
believe. They lived at and near Independance, Va.)

(read nitpicky) historian.
Hi all,
I read in a Alleghany Co., NC Heritage book from the 1970s that an Ares
Taylor was an early settler of the Cranberry Area. Does anyone have
information about this fellow and his family. On a related matter, does
anyone know if Ares is a nickname or shortened form of Erasmus?
I am wondering if he is connected to my line:
Zachariah Taylor ? (VA?)
Samuel Taylor (B-Abt./Bef. 1800 VA?) m. Hessa Absher(?)
Possible Sons:
Wiley Taylor
Lewis Taylor
Definite Son:
Alexander "Ellic" Taylor (B-1826)
Carol,
Who are your relatives?
Debby Fender Young

Grayson county was formed in 1793 from Wythe County so you may also need to
look at Wythe County records......
There are numerous published records for the period you are searching, but I
am not sure of any but Montgomery County and have only used them
once......The
