Hill (1837-1923) was the eldest son of David (1810-1856) and Catherine (1814-1914) Hill. I do not know Catherine's middle name. David was the son of William Hill (c.1755-bef.1840) and Elizabeth (c.1772-aft.1850), last name unknown. As it so happens I'm nearly finished with a genealogy of the Hill family, bu

I'm looking for information about the following Hill family in Ashe/Alleghany Co. because of the Evans connection-trying to connect my Abraham Evans and his possible brother David to old Barnabas Evans. Abraham and Mahala Edwards, Evans named a son William and a son Barnabas. It has been passed down that his father was Richard but, I cannot find a Richard Evans that will fit. I know there are errors here as it is a lot of my own speculation. Thanks for any help with this family. Nab Descendants of William H

Thanks Arthur! Elizabeth Betsy Evans, wife of Lucy's probable brother John Hill, was a probable niece of old Barnabas Evans, being the daughter of his brother, William Evans, Sr. I have been unable to resolve a relationship between Lucy, herself, and Barnabas. She lived in his household and apparently took care of him in his old age. She was a major heir, when he died. Was she a romantic interest (I don't believe so)..was she the mother of some of his children?...the mother of his grandchildren?...a relati
8. [NCALLEGH] Ephraim Pennington [0.990003]
All, Is anyone researching Ephraim Pennington, or the Penningtons in general ? I ask because I ordered a land grant from the NC Archives for a land grant of Ephraim Pennington Jr. for the land between William Pennington and Burrell Spence in 1803. Alas, this land grant does not mention a waterway, which is what I wanted most. Burrell Spence is my hubby's 3rd g-grandfather and for a 5 year period moved into what is now Alleghany County and lived near the Penningtons. He then went back to Carroll Co V
9. [NCALLEGH] William Hill Family, 1860 Allegheny Co, NC Census [0.990003]
Hi Nanalee and each of you all:::::::::::Just a few comments to establish my lineage::I am a descendant of William Hill (Sr), through two of his sons, John A. and William, Jr. These two guys are my 2great grand fathers. Louisa and David, of these two, respectively, are my great grand parents. Sure makes for a lot of double cousins. This is a most fascinating and intriguing family----specifically, some of the un-married women, that raise their children, and, that show such devotion to elder related famil
