Also check out our Cemetery pages. Basil McVey is doing a fantastic job of

Hello list, I need a look-up in the 1840 Ashe Co. Census for the
following person, i need the full listing of everything on him (mainly,
i believe it mentions he is a manufacture), i need to see if it mentions
what he manufactured, name THRONBURG,? DANIEL (DAVID), this is how i
have his name on a short census record, and i do believe sometime in the
past i read that on this census that he was a manufacturer.
Thanks in advacnce to anyone who can help.

Am new to this list...so if I ask a "dumb" question, please forgive me.
Am researching a William Richard Blevins. He was born around 1859 (would
like to know if there are birth records available for Ashe Co. for that time
frame). He was first Married to a Marguerite _____? They had two children -
Alma in Georgia b. 1889 and Charles Austin in Reliance,TN b. 1890. Sooooo,
wondered if Ashe Co. had marriage records that encompassed the 1888-1889
years???

Hi List,
I would like to ask if anyone who has the Ashe County Marriages
1800-1900 book can look up something for me. I would like to see
whether there is a listing for a G.R. Howell in Ashe County, NC marrying
on the 8/21/1884 a Mary Emaline Tedder or Nance. She was divorced from
the Nance. Also if there is another listing for her marriage later to a
Blevins. Thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to
give. Mary Ann Tedder Talbott.
Thanks to Nanalee and Beth for the look-up......Do you know of a
possible way i could find out what kind of manufactures and trades he
was into? Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
Can anyone help me find some information on Tuckerdale, NC? I am unable
to find it on the NC 2002 State Transportation Map. Does Tuckerdale
still exist, or is it just too small to be on the map? I am interested
because my gg-grandfather, John W. Tucker, was from Tuckerdale. I found
one site on the Internet that said his house there was on the national
historic register, but that's all I've been able to find. Any help would
be appreciated.

My copy of the census shows that he also has 3 female
slaves (under 10) and 1 female slave (24-35). It
states that one member was engaged in "agriculture"
and one member was engaged in "manufactures and
trades".

Does anyone know if these two men were brothers?
Jacob married Annie Burkett
John married Sarah Johnston - their granddaughter married into the Burkett
line.

Barbara, I can't be sure that this is the same William R Blevins married to
Marguerite that you are seeking, but Elizabeth Caulder's Ashe County
Marriages 1800-1900 includes:
Oct. 21, 1881 W. R. Blevins to Margaret L. Mitchel, by G. W. Woodie
Best wishes
Ron Blevins

Kathryn: Tuckerdale is about 5 miles north of Lansing in Ashe Co, along Big Horse
Creek. There used to be a PO and rail stop there. It's just a cross roads
with a few houses, no commercial buildings now. I was brought up in Lansing and have
been thru the Tuckerdale area several times since then. I would think it could
be found on one or more of the mapping programs on the 'net, USGS etc.

I reported Jesse Swindle was a Revolutionary War Vet who was part of the Valley Forge troops with Gen George Washington. This Jesse Swindle was a soldier from North Carolina.
Thanks to a wonderful SWINDLE researcher, I have been told he is related to my ancestry.
Jesse Swindle of NC was the son of John Swindle, Jr. and Rebecca Harris. John Jr. was the brother of Timothy Swindle, who is my direct ancestor.
Here is my descendancy:
Lillian Kathleen Martin d/o Emily d/o Charles s/o Pearl Mills d/o Emma Brow

Kathy, please tell me more about your John W. Tucker. Is he the same one who
was born 22 Dec. 1844 and died in 1924, the son of David and Mahala (Blevins)
Tucker. I live in eastern Virginia, almost 7 hours away from Ashe County.
Sorry, I can't provide directions to Tuckerdale, although I could easily lead
you there if I was in the county. If you are descended from the John W.
Tucker noted above, then we are cousins, and I'd enjoy sharing information
with you. I had the pleasure of meeting a much
