I was just asked about how to get free space for your web pages.
Since I started mine on geocities (now yahoo.com) some time ago.... I
wondered if anyone on our list might have some more up-to-date information
to share.
www.rootsweb.com provides some free pages Has anyone actually used these?
yahoo.com also has free pages. I have one there from when it used to be
geocities. I have liked it alot, and they let you load right on-line, so
you don't need any other program.
I'm sure there are others...

I've found several instances where my research on the descendants
of Ephraim White and Sarah Hardy White is being published on the
Web by people I've never corresponded with. I've asked most of
those I've corresponded with not to publish it without my
permission because I know it's subject to revision and not
definitive. Such a case has recently occurred.
Most of the info on this line was assembled by me based on my
"aunt" Hazel Aline White McAfee's research. Like a lot of my line

Hi Virginia..
In answer to the very important individuals that question all sources
but their own.. the Post Offices were for your information to do as you
wished.
The information was in the Bertie County Historical files, of which I
was a past and current president. Dr. W.P. Jacocks of UNC prof.
Emeritus got it From the US POSTAL SERVICE over 50 years ago. If it
doesn't fit with someone else's data, let them take it up with the US

Hi everybody: A technical problem exists on our messages. IT IS NECESSARY
THAT YOU PLACE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS NEAR YOUR SIGNATURE. eITHER i'M NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT, or you're not doing something right. Messages are not getting to you which I'm trying to send you.
No email addresses by your signatures, no replies, is, I think, what it amounts to. I need to connect with you DIRECTLY instead of going thru your "list". I routinely delete messages AFTER I reply, so you don't need to worry about your addres

My too cents worth: My father and his siblings called their mother Mammy
and his father Daddy.
My mother called her mother Mama and her father Poppa. I have thought
that these names tell us something of the origin of their ancestors. We
called my mother Mama and my father Daddy.

Anytime we use a list or message board to inquire about additional info
on our ancestors we can consider it posted to someone's website. I think
some subscribe to the list just to get our information. I listed the name of
the fourteen children of my great-grandfather. A lady wrote to me and told
me she had posted my info but that she did name me as the submitter. That's
not so bad but others claim it as their own work. Most of our info can be
found by others but some we have obtained from the

Thanks, David. That was fun! Depending on your computer, it may take a
while to load...but it is all there when you take the time!
I just learned from someone that Jessie Parker ( Mrs Joseph W
Parker )---- the woman who wrote the history of the Bertie Schools in the
Anniversary edition--- had a hand written family tree of the Bazemores and
the Parkers also. He was a Judge in Windsor.
Does anyone happen to have this Bazemore-Parker material?

Here's the second African-American leader that I've found.
We need to know more about his family as well....and the things that he did.
Mr. Richard Biggs-Kelford
Mr. Richard Biggs, Kelford, was a leader in the black community in the
Kelford area. He owned the Biggs Funeral Home
and Pete Austin shared "he had a Model "T" hearse which was enclosed with
glass so the coffin could be viewed from all
four sides."
***Does this funeral home still exist today? Do they have records?***

We've had several contributions lately, so wanted to mention some of them

Doug Britton furnished photos of the "old" Post Office at Woodville and
also the Woodville Supply Company

He also went to alot of trouble to locate the "wolf head" used on athletic
jackets around 1953-63. That should bring back some fond memories for West
Bertie High grads.

Virginia,
I still have my page on Geocities http://www.geocities.com/rduggan2 and I
also have a mirror page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~duggan .
My free 12 MB on GeoCities are almost used up with all my data there, but
RootsWeb has essentially no limit. I use my free WS_FTP software to upload
files to both sites.

Mr. Charles Smallwood kept diaries of the Woodville area. Hope someone can

My new web pages are finally up and running.
