Hi Charlie, your name sounds familiar, did I happen to send you copies
on this family? Just checking, because if I did, I would not have any further
information on them. Actually, I am trying to save myself some time by
not looking it up....it would be duplicates of what I already sent. If
not, let me know and I will see what I can find.

Surname: PRESCOTT, RUSSELL, PURDUE

A quick update....I've spoken to a PRESCOTT researcher who feels, as I
do, that Moses PRESCOTT's wife was Mary RUSSELL. Mary was most likely a
sister to Habakkuk RUSSELL (d. 1754). I also understand that Sarah PRESCOTT
married John PURDUE.
Geography time again. Would someone be kind enough to tell me where
Ware Creek is? Powell's Gazeteer states that it runs southwest into the
mouth of Newport River, but I've not been able to find it on a map. I'm
also trying to find Wallace Creek which is not in Powell's Gazeteer (at
least not a Wallace Creek in Carteret County). It is most likely in
western Carteret County perhaps near Broad Creek or Goose Creek. Time
frame is early 1800s. Oh, and since I'm talking geography....anyone
know where McKea

Carteret County court records show that he had three daughters....Mary,

Mary were dead. His wife is listed as still living, but her name isn't
given. John Shack

I am searching for the parents of Martha Brite in Camden County, NC as
early as 1779 and as late as her death in 1825.
In 1779, there is a Deed of Sale from WILLIAM TAYLOR to Elizabeth

It was registered in Camden Co., NC 10 Apr. 1779.
Is it possible that you know of a WILLIAM TAYLOR with a sister or

were neighbors according to land records in Pasquotank Co. NC pr

Well I finally discovered where McKean's Creek is. It is an old name
for what is now Sander's Creek which is about 2 miles west of the mouth

Does anyone know why some Carteret County men in the 1730s and 1740s
came into the County Court and stated the breakdown of their family?
The information sounds like it would be used for tax purposes or
something, but it does not seem to be comprehensive of the county in any
way. Most of the entries are between 1742 and 1746. Some examples are:
September Court 1734: Enoch Ward Esq. came into open court and made
oath upon the Holy Evangelist that the following person was and is now

I just mailed a CD that I just burned with over 75,000 names on it. There
are probably about 60,000 names on it where lineage or descendents touch base
in Carteret County at one time or another. I've suggested that the museum
copy and sell these CDs, but I'm not sure about whether or not they will do
it.
Another note. I'm not sure how many of you are researching the Taylor line,
or any other lines that were also being researched by Bill Linder of
Alexandria, Virginia.
