I am trying to get a handle on some ancestors who lived and died in Clay County. James HOLDEN was Married to Nancy MOTT, They moved to Clay Co., sometime after 1840. The note says that that was Cherokee Co., now Clay Co. He was one of the founders of the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church. In fact he was a messenger of the Church in Sept 1850 at the second annual conference of the Hiawasee Baptist Association. At that time the church had 34 members. He died 8/20/1865 and is listed as being buried in the Old
