Jesse enlisted at Fort Johnston at age 18 on May 10, 1861. Born in Pitt County, he resided in either Wayne or Greene County where he was a farmer prior to enlisting.
Jesse was a private in the Confederate Greys, Company E, 20th Infantry Regiment.
Dad was John B. or L. Baker and mom was Lucity?
Kay sent this information but the list is so long it tends to freeze my pc
so you will have to go to the URL to check it yourself. None listed in our
area but if you have New Hanover families, there are a bunch of
slaveholders with insurance on their slaves. One or two from Williamston
and several from Cumberland Co - that is about all I saw from NC.
Thanks, Kay.

Martha,
After looking at the recent posting for the Darden bible, I have the
following opinion on the Swinson question, for whatever it is worth.
> Henry Swinson & Claodish was married May 11th 1831
>
> Claodesha Swinson departed this life 8 May 1838
If only the year were wrong, it wouldn't work for her to have died May 8
1831.
Seems lke the date which was wrong would have been the marriage date of
Swinson to Winnifred Darden.
> Henry Swinson & Winnifred S. Darden was married Sept 4th 1831

My comment is for the Lassiter below...
I have both these in my file but instead of being called Thomas Uzzell Lassiter, all I have ever seen him referred to is Uzzell Lassiter and his father before was Uzzell Lassiter, son of Stephen Lassiter and Nancy Uzzell. Mark Clinton Lassiter was the son of Charles Amon Lassiter and Charles did have a brother referred to as Thomas Uzzell Lassiter.
Maybe they were ALL Thomas Uzzell Lassiter????
