Hi,
The church erected a marker with the info that I sent to you.
What are your relations in Nantahala. Two of my aunts married Mays.Harley
and Grady.
The current school that was established in 1952, I am almost certain did not
belong to Mays.
Prior to that there were about 5 schools in Nantahala area.Otter
Creek.,Aquone, Camp Branch,
and one near where the present school is located.Since the Mays lived on
Otter Creek I expect that is the one you mean.
I have a listing for the Brairtown Church graveyard whi

Just out of curiosity...
Does anyone know the names/locations of the Post Offices in Macon County? I
know there are POs in Franklin, Otto, and Highlands, but what about the rest
of the county? While looking through the old WPA cemetery surveys, some
directions were given from the "post office in Leatherman". Is it still there?
My thanks for any help.
Sincerely,

If you are interested--The Topton,NC P.O. is in the edge of Cherokee County
but serves a portion of Macon. In years past there was a P.O. in Aquone
which is active but operates out of the Topton P.O.
In the years before that there was a P.O. with the name Flats which was
located in the Nantahala River area.It was actually in Swain County but
served the Nantahala area of Macon County. Newton Jones
