Happy New Year everyone! Maybe the first post of the new year. :)
I have an idea I wanted to run by you. For my own use, I downloaded all of the 1850 Bertie Co census records (found at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/bertie/census/1850/) and imported them into a database, allowing me to sort and search by first name, last name, age, etc. Much easier than hunting through the individual files online one by one.
Since it is helpful for me, I am sure it would be helpful for many of you as well, and

Their known children (all born Martin County):
Thomas Bland II
John Bland

times.
There is another Thomas Bland in Martin County who has a will dated 1780,
wife named Priscilla. Do not know if they are related.

Lets begin this New Year with a committment to deeper research, and a hope for more successful research.
To that end, lets have a Roll Call of the person in Martin Co, that you are most in need of info on.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, or whatever the holiday that you happen to celebrate. This is the time of the year that we try to do things we promised ourselves. For genealogists, it's to find those elusive ancestors. Therefore, let's tell the list who, what, where, why we ar

She evidently got the wrong one....can you tell me what color the brochure

publications done by the Martin County Historical Society (MCHS) only.
The Genealogical Society books are published by the Martin County

You were absolutely correct....the latest Deed Book is NOT on the website...working on getting that corrected!
They also have two or three books listed under MCHS that should be under MCGS...working on that. Apologies.

Hi Folks,
I've been doing some checking and the prices of all of the publications by Martin County Historical Society and the Martin Genealogical Society are posted on our Travel and Tourism website.
Log on to www.visitmartincounty.com and click on cultural heritage (left side) and then scroll down and find Resources on the right hand side and click on that. Click on Historical Society and scroll down to see book prices, the address of the society is also there. We input price changes this afternoon so h
The brochures will be mailed as soon as possible. BTW I'm also a professional genealogist should any of you require my services, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks,
Jennifer
