Dee Gibson-Roles, I descend from BAKERs who were in the Avery's Creek Buncombe County, NC area between 1850 and 1900. I am sure there must be some of these family members in the area today. I am wondering if you know of someone in the local area that might have an interest in helping me locate facts about them that I have been unable to find. Davenport/Deavenport Baker was a farmer who lived in Yancey County with his wife Rachel Oakes Baker in 1840. They show up again in the 1850 census with some of
