This is my Christmas message to everyone.
The "W" in Christmas
In order to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience, I decided to cut
back on nonessential obligations - extensive card writing, endless baking,
decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted,
unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and the true meaning of
Christmas.
My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season
for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing song
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas,
My true love gave to me...
Twelve census searches,
Eleven email contacts,
Ten printer cartridges,
Nine headstone rubbings,
Eight birth and death dates,
Seven town clerks sighing,
Six second cousins,
Five coats of arms,
Four GEDCOM files,
Three old wills,
Two CD-ROMs,
And a branch in my family tree.

Does anyone know where I can locate a list of the early members of
Hopewell and a list of the headstones in the cemetery?
Thanks,
Sheila Anthony
P.S. I understand that a church history exists, but it is not indexed.
I am looking for Waddle, Cathey, Potts, Duckworth, McFall, Graham,
McDowell. Most of these families were located on McDowell's Creek near
the church.

possibly be able to identify with one or more of the individuals
listed, and if so, enter into an exchange which might possibly
enable us to identify family links between any two or more family
surnames included below. Please do advise if you are able to
identify with any of these militiamen. My family's Henry CRAIG
and his brother, James CRAIG, are both found in the below.

Is anyone on the list researching Henry B. Williams of Mecklenburg County? He
is listed as hotel proprietor of the Mansion House in the 1860 census. Any
info on Henry or the hotel much appreciated! Diana

That map is fabulous. Thanks a bunch.

I've drawn a map of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Union Counties -- one that
shows waterways, townships and some early churches.
I have posted it on the Internet at:

It is an Adobe PDF file, and opens with Adobe Acrobat Reader. I formatted
the map (drawn in AutoCAD) to print on a 30" x 36" sheet, so if you print
it on letter size paper, you might not be able to make out the small
print. But, use the Adobe Reader to zoom in to have a closer look on
