Karen did you find the death record for you ancestor in Mitchell Co. I have
a copy of the records that were taken several years ago. Tell me what you
need.
Margaret
Cindy and J.G., I too would like the information if possible. My line of
descent is
James Buchanan m. Isabel Wilson -> Arthur Buchanan m. Mary Boswell. I have
done very little Buchanan research, so any assistance would bee appreciated/
Thanks,
Tom
Would the Buchanan that married a Sparks be the son of Avery Buchanan and
Mollie Edwards by any chance?

Dear Wanda,
If you don't have any relatives in Mitchell Co who are working on the
family tree, the genealogical society might have someone who could do
local cemetery research for you, probably for a small fee. They do very
good work, so any fees they charge would help to preserve the history of
the region and local family history.
I don't know how to reach them by phone or email (maybe someone else on
the list is a local member and can provide that information), but their
mailing address is:

Hello, Cindy
Yes, I would be interested in the Buchanan/Sparks line, as well. I have
both lines in my families ancestry, but none of the original family
information.

Is there some other place to find death records for Mitchell Co. for
1870-1880? I can't afford to pay the North Carolina Archives $20 per year to
search for the death of my great great grandfather,Ebenezer{Asor} Prichard. I
think it is more likely that he died in 1878 or 1879, but I can't find any
record of his death or burial in any of the online databases. Any help would
be great. Karen Williamsburg, VA

I am not descended from this family, but I try to keep up on the Buchanans.
I have many family members that married Buchanans.

I need some info. I have a paper of questions and answers taken in 1884,
asking WILLIAM O. WILSON how well he knows STEPHEN BUCHANAN. William says they
are brother-in-laws. William O. Wilson was married to Elizabeth Howell.
Does anyone know who this Stephen Buchanan is, who he is married to, or how
William and Stephen are related?
Thank you
Margaret
Cindy
I also have several Aruthur Buchanan's in my tree.

Cindy, thank you for sharing the BUCHANAN/SPARKS information.
I am said to be from this line:Arthur & Mary Bosewell Buchanan; William & Elizabeth Jones Buchanan; George B. & Sarah Pitman Buchanan; William W. & Susan Sparks Buchanan [Susan dau. of Allen & Beersheba Sparks)..this is where I have my problem in proofs, my grandfather was living with Wm. & Susan Sparks Buchanan's son John Calvin Buchanan [listed 1900 Toe River NC census "Brackie" listed as nephew].
Grandfather Donald Bracknell "Brackie" Bucha
I am searching for the grave site of my gr-gr-grand parents-
MILTON MCCLELLAN born between 1799 and 1803 in N.C.---I dont know where.
Last found on census of GRASSY CREEK,MITCHELL COUNTY N.C. 1900--gave his age as 99.
Living in the household of his son JOHN MCCLELLAN and daughter in law HANNAH JOHNSON MCCLELLAN.
NARCISSA COLLENS MCCLELLAN born 1803 in N.C. or maybe VIRGINIA.
They were married in CABARRUS CO.N.C.
Last found on census of GRASSY CREEK, MITCHELL COUNTY N.C. 1850.
I believe their son GEORGE MCC
Charles C. Baker s/o David Baker and Dorothy Wiseman married Mary Ann Keener
about 1831 in Yancey County, in an area which subsequently became Mitchell
County. I am searching for the parents of Mary Ann Keener, born in
Tennessee about 1808.
Margaret,
Since he is the Buchanan living closest to William Wilson on the 1880
Bakersville census, I think this may be the Stephen Buchanan, b ca 1855,
who was the son of James Buchanan and Polly (Ellis may be the maiden
name, but I am not positive). This Stephen's wife on the 1880 census
was Eliza, b ca 1864. I don't know her maiden name, though; as this is
not my line. Just curious: do you know the nature of the questions;
was it related to a legal matter of some kind?
The other Stephen Bucha
Yes, I would be interested in this family line and the date.

Help, was this one of the groups that had a discussion regarding the Buchanan Bible the Sparks family had?
It has been awhile since the discussion but I just received the copies from the Allen County Library today. And in it is a copy of a court
document signed by Ben Buchanan and Burns Turner showing some of the family line. If anyone is interested.
Thanks, Cindy

Looking for information on the family of Thomas M. McKinney and Jane Augusta
Dale. They had 14 children. I would love to know more about their family.
They had Dorothy, Daniel, Hattie, Sadie, Lockey, James, Eura, Belle, Louisa,
John, Clayton, Charles, Kitty and Tull. Danny A. McBee. I descend from Jane
Dale's mother Rachel Mace Dale McBee.
Jane Augusta Dale had three siblings: James G., Susannah Elizabeth and
George Rufus Dale, Jr. Any information on them would be greatly appreciated also.
