Dear Friends on the NCNEWHAN-L List,
I am searching for information, biographical or other about an early
resident on Wilmington and perhaps also Brunswick County. This man is a
Benjamin Smith. He was an early governor of North Carolina, perhaps
while it was an English Colony, and the little town of Smithville, later
known as Southport in Brunswick County, NC was named for him in its
early times.
An old book in the New Hanover County Library back in 1952 depicted the
home which formerly stood at 111 Doc
I believe the New Hanover library will do look-ups for you.
My mother has sent several names to them for look-ups
and received quite a bit of information. Trying calling and
asking for Genealogy, I think it is also known as the North
Carolina Room. Syndi

Hello,
I am searching for information about Elizabeth "Betsy"
(King) Craft.
She was named as a daughter in the Will of her father, James
King, SR
dated 22 October 1836.
I believe that Elizabeth was previously married to George
Shepard who
died prior to 6 February 1827. On this date Thomas Foy was
named
Administrator of George Shepard's estate.
Any information about Elizabeth "Betsy" (King) Craft or the
man she
married, ________ Craft, would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James Shepard

in NC until his father's death, then lived in GA a s

would they be willing to make a "good ole Georgia Gal" happy by looking
in the newspaper microfilm for an obituary for my - BENJAMIN WILLIAMS -
