Does anyone know where "Turkey Pen Branch" is located? I have a land grant dated 1832 mentioning Turkey Pen Branch waters of main Broad River in Rutherford County. It reads that the land was on the side of a mountain below a cliff of rocks. Dear Mary Ellis, I realize Ellis may be your married name, but I am searching for info on William Ellis,(who married Agnes B Carr) and his daughter, Elizabeth Ellis. Elizabeth married John Coon(Coons)his dates was 1773-1864. Do Not have dates on Elizabeth.They may have been from Va/Ky. John Coon was from Culpepper, Va .His son, Elijah, and wife Sally Black, was from Montgomery Co. Ky(or Nichalous Co.) Maybe someone else who sees this can assist me with this.

I have Watts, Winnie(Winnifred), married Henry Holt, 1796,1862, NC. I wondered if anyone has seen any info on these two people. Possibly Cherokee. Unsure. Would love to see any documention any one may have, or, I could find out where it is located. This is not specifically on NCROOTS, but is in response to something posted on this list and good advice, I think, for everyone. Please skip over if only interested in NCROOTS. I would like to make a suggestion based on how important photos have been in my genealogical research. Please keep a set of these photos in your family collection for future generations. You listed the 1910 census, and presumably it lists Hiram as their son. For added evidence you should locate them in 1920, and it would hopefully again list Hiram as their son. Depending on when and where Hiram married, marriage applications may list who he said his parents were. Finally, locate Hiram's death certificate, and see if his parents are named, and evaluate how accurate the listing for his parents might be, depending on who is listed as having provided the information.
