2. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] RootsWeb-SMALLEY surname in NC [1]
I am at a "brick wall" with my gggrandfather, James C. Smalley who was born in McDowell County, NC in 1822. (Of course, it would have been another county in those days cause McDowell County wasn't formed till later - I'm thinking probably Rutherford or Burke County). Would anyone know anything about his family? I can't find out who his parents were. I suspect a lady by the name of Nancy Smalley was his grandmother, but I need to document and confirm my suspicions as well as figure out which one of her s

5. [NCSCGenSwap] Revolutionary Era Ancestors - ATKINSON [1]
Howdy List, I am working on an on-going project to discover my Revolutionary War Era Ancestors. I thought, if there are no objections, I would send what details I have on them over an extended period of time. If anyone can add anything to what I have it would be deeply appreciated. The information I send will pertain to individuals who lived at least part of their lives in NC, SC, and/or GA. Usually they lived in these regions during the Revolution. Most of my information was gathered via the internet,

8. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] My brickwall- McGill [1]
Just wanted you to know that our family has a direct connection with the McGills and the Glenns. My great great grandfather was Thomas McGill Boyd. In searching I have found intermarriage between four families in the area around the beginnings of the 19th century in South Carolina. These families were the Boyds, the Johnstons, the Glenns, and the McGills. Other families were involved but the primary links were from the children of James Glenn and David Johnston. 11. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] McGill [1]
Hello, While we are speaking on the McGills, I come from a William McGill of Wilkes County NC. His son Hiram and Daniel were soldiers in the War of 1812. Daniel died in prison in Canada and Hiram relocated in South Alabama, where is sons were faithful to the South in the War of Northern Aggression. If anyone recognizes these names or they tie into your family, I would love to correspond. -Robert McMillan Stockton, Alabama

13. [NCSCGenSwap] Help Needed - Whitt, Sexton and Callahan [1]
I am researching my maternal family tree -- the Whitt's and the Sexton's. This has been a major brickwall that I just can't seem to chip away at. I am hoping that someone will have a new place to search or a lead of any type. Below is what I know right now about this family. I will be happy to share any information that I can. I hope that someone will be able to help me fill in the blanks (and there are a lot of them right now). Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Willie Arthur W

15. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] List Admin message [1]
I know I saw the name Daniel Wallace while searching the cesus but, for the life of me can not find one written down. I thought we had written down every Wallace in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 census. I am keeping my eye out for them though. 17. [NCSCGenSwap] Questions [1]
Thanks to a very wonderful person, I have the census for part of my family. I have also found out that other information that I had concerning the parents of Susan Callahan is incorrect. My question is...what would be the best way of finding information on where Wm. Callahan was born in NC?? If my math is correct he was born in approximately 1847. Is there a way to search earlier census (like maybe 1850) for the entire state since I don't know what county he was born in?? Also, is Jno an abbreviation
18. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] McLeod [1]
My brick wall is Alexander McLeod and his family. I found him in the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census. In the 1880 census it said his father was born in Scotland and list two sisters living with him. They are Margaret and Cathorine McLeod. Would love to know a little more about Alexanders wife Jane. She was listed in the 1850 census but was gone in the later ones. I am including the address to my family web page with the census information on it. Thanks for any help. Ellen in Fla http://member
19. Re: [NCSCGenSwap] LOOK UP REQUEST [1]
Margy , Thank you very much for your help. If I can help you in any way, please let me know. I live in Dallas, TX and have written two books on the Mount family, but I did not have the info on Stephen G. R. and Samuel S.C. Mount and their families. My own greatfrandfather was in the CONFEDERATE ARMY and served in the 6th AR INF. Of this, I am very proud. We must remember the sacrifice that these heroes made for us, even though in vain. 20. [NCSCGenSwap] My brickwall- McGill [1]
My primary brickwall is my gggrandfather Clayton McGill. According to census records he was born in SC around 1822. I have tried to find a tie in to other McGills in the Carolinas but can find none although I suspect that he might have been from the general area around Pickens Co- Anderson Co., SC since the people he ( to use today's terminology) hung out with were all from that area. He obviously left and went to AL sometime prior to 1846 since he was found on the militia list for St. Clair Co, AL an
