My thoughts are census takers were paid by the family, and were in a hurry,
sometime they ask the wife who might have been shy or scarred when she
answered, or sometimes the census taker just ask the neighbor if no one was at home.

Dear Johnie,
I am interested in your Drury Jones. I've seen him in the right county for
me in the right time frame. I also think 'Drury' was a well used name in the
Jones family. I wonder if there is a Sarah JONES in your line up.
Looking for Sarah JONES born about 1820ish and one notation says born in SC.
My Sarah sounds too old to be the daughter of your Drury.
But could he have a brother that married a girl named Sarah?
Could your Drury have a sister named Sarah?
I am longing to find out more a
