Includes some far-flung areas, but even the North Carolina information
may prove helpful.

There are several excellent sources for getting cemetery information,
but my favorite is http://www.interment.net
Elaine,
I'm indeed an idiot.
The date of the letter (and the other one written on the same sheet of paper to the same man) was 1852 June 17 Georgia, Marion County. The other letter is even better, showing a wonderful sense of the ridiculous.
Thank you for pointing out my lapses (yeah, I'm really appreciative).

P.S. The exact same thought hit me when I saw that he had spelled importance correctly.

Hello,
I need help from SKS. I do not have access to a Family History Center. If
anyone has the following film, I would sure appreciate a look-up for Duncan
MacBride:
b. 19 Dec 1765
Stralachlan, Argyll, Scotland
Batch number: C115345
Dates 1745-1820
Source Call No. 1041077
Type Film
Printout Call No. 6900463
I believe this must be Malvin Comack Garrison Jr from Mecklenburg County. He
married Christine Callahan in 1953. I'm distantly related to this person and am
also the Sec and Tres of the Garrison Reunion Committee of Mecklenburg County,
NC. Please send the letters to me.
Please email me for my mailing address.

Could the Campbells you said were in GA a generation later include a Daniel
Campbell b. 1795 who married Margaret Morrison b. 1796. I think it's highly
likely they were both in the Bladen Co., NC area in the early 1800s. The
Daniel I'm looking for might have been a recent arrival, but he surely would
have been a close relative of those Campbells already there. On Census
data, Margaret is said to have been born in NC.

"You also asked about additional books. There are several similar
books by me and other authors. You can see most of these at the
following web site:
http://home.att.net/~a.b.pruitt
The site is about 14 pages long and is in four parts:
(1) The first 3 pages on this site contan a list of books about
land entries and grants for land in North Carolina; at the end of the
list are addresses for the authors; you will have to write the author
to determine the
"instans" is immediate - or this month
"ultimus" is latest or last - or last month
These terms/usages are almost exclusive to newspapers, although they are
sometimes to be found in financial records such as mortgages. "Next" is
rare, although it would be proximus, abrv. as 'prox'.

You are cordially invited to a Stainback-Duke family reunion on Saturday,
March 31, 2001, at the Epsom Country Club in Epsom, North Carolina.
Epsom is located in Vance County, North Carolina, between Henderson and
Louisburg. Vance County is where the old Stainback home place and cemetery
are located. Vance was subdivided in 1881 from Granville, Franklin and Warren
Counties, all of which have lots of Stainbacks and Dukes, who intermarried
not only with each other, but with many of the surnames originat
Does anyone know the family of Mrs. Ervin of Ware Shoals, South
Carolina?
I purchased a very old book recently and discovered some
correspondence to her (tucked neatly inside) regarding research on her
family. These letters are written in 1940 (from UNC) and 1947 (NC
State Department of Archives and History). There are tons of
handwritten notes written in the margins of the book.
There is also a typewritten page that indicates she was extracting
particular family names.

Two new books by Dr. A. B. Pruitt have been added to the bibliography
list (url below my name). Both are unique in that they cover some
material not found in any of the other books that I have for Bladen,
Duplin, and Sampson counties. These books pertain to "entries" as
opposed to actual grants. Many entries resulted in grants, many did
not. This information is an excellent resource for pinpointing the
location of an ancestor (even if its for a short time).

Mrs. G. V. Baker. I understand that one copy is found in a vertical file at
the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh. If copies are no longer

Malcolm McNeill and his wife Katherine (Katie) Torry or Torrey. Will be

I've been going through a lot of old newspaper articles and I keep coming across these two abbreviations in obituaries or marriage notices: "ult." and "inst.".
Could someone tell me what these mean. I think one of them must mean "in this month", but I'm not sure which one.
Thanks!
Linda
Hello Researchers, If your surnames are Smith, Johnson, Howell, Knight,
Watson, Covington, Thomas, Parker, Pate, Denning, Campbell or Wiggans you
may have relatives in Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennesse and
Richmond County, North Carolina. Visit this site and find out.

almost finished. Probably by March 2001! Great stuff! Later, Myrtle Bridges.

Hi All,
If there are any McGilvray's out there, please take a look at my family and
their home in Florida.
Maybe someone will see a resemblance. These photos were taken from 1840 to at
least 1865.
I am trying to find the parents or the birth place or the marriage of my GGG
Grandfather Neill McGilvray.
These photo's are of Neil's son Alexander and his family. And of Neills home
where Alexander lived.
Tonia Porter of the Walton County Florida Site was nice enough to post them.

the two entries).

at a yard sale a box of dishes, etc. In the bottom of the box

McClullen, Alabama, and Ms. Christine CALLAHAN, who was living
in Charlotte, North Carolina, who apparently were engaged to be
married. I'd like to return these to them or their des

Hi Gene,
There are no LASSITERS in Scattered Seed, but there are a few
