Hi I am in relation to the Allens, and through marriage of my gggreat Aunt
Paschalls and Flemings. Although I am thinking the last two names mentioned
were family friends as well.
Would the Charles Allen have been in the rev. war?
There is a cemetery between Manson NC and Drewry NC that is sort of a family
cemetery. All the Paschalls, Capps, Flemings are in here, and then there
are some other names but not as many as those. My gggrandparents are in
there also.

I sent the following to Marie-Paulette off-list and then thought I should
probably send it to the list just in case anyone else might recognize any of
these names. Thank you in advance.

To Marie-Paulette:
I saw your post about different surnames, specifically the one about the
ALLEN's found in Granville Co., NC.
I just this week got information that my George Washington ALLEN was b. May
4, 1826 in Oxford, Granville Co., NC (documented by a letter from the AL
Dept of Archives about his Civil War

I am attempting to delineate the family of Bennett Wood (b c1735?), the
son of William Wood (b1711? dc1770 NC) who presumably died in Warren
County NC. William, along with his sons Penuel, Bennett, William Jr.,
and John, appear in numerous land transactions, first in VA, then just
across the state line in what was originally Bute County NC. To do so,
I have attempted to put together a rough timeline of the familys
movements.
As indicated by the entry in Lunenburg County Deed Book 1, page 113, on
April 2
Claud,
Absolutely! WEBB is another name that keeps cropping up but I don't have any connections for it as of yet. I also believe I have seen some
records on Samuel SMITH and even if he is not connected, it helps me to eliminate a possible SMITH. Robert Ruffin SMITH also sounds familiar but I
cannot find it in my notes. But YES, I am interested in both! Thank you so much!

Well, Smith is like Hodges, my lst name, there are a lot of us. However, my
North Carolina bunch ended up in the Scott/Logan County area of Arkansas via
Ga. If you'll share some first names, I check in that area of Ark for you.
I know there were Smith's there.

During the Revolutionary War Captain Charles ALLEN served in the Fifth North

I hope this helps a little bit.

Claude,
Thank you so much. I have seen many of these names and can now know who they are. Some of my husband's SMITHs ended up in AR also but I am unsure of the county and this also was
not until the middle to late 1800s. Thank you again for all of your help.
Marie-Paulette
Could these people be related to the Bennett Wood line?
General Solomon Wood (b. 1756 VA) and his brothers moved to Burke and
Jefferson Cos., GA in late 1700's from NC (maybe Johnston Co.). Their
parents were Lydia Ballentine and William Wood b. abt 1726 VA. Children
were:
1.William Wood 1745
2.John L. Wood [RevWar] 1749
3.Mark Wood 1752
4.Elizabeth Wood 1754
5.Solomo
Claude,
Are there ANY SMITHs in any of those lines that you know of?

It is very possible that this Charles ALLEN served in the Rev. War. Gulielmus served as local home guard and at least 2 of his sons were in the VA
line. Could you tell me more about your Charles ALLEN?
I have the following on ALLENs (and many others) of Granville Co., NC:
John ALLEN listed as a member of a jury in Granville Co., NC on 3 Mar 1787 along with Britian DUKE, William HOLLIMAN, John ROBERTSON, Henry FITTS,
Peter JONES, William BALTHROP, James MITCHELL, John MOSELEY, Darling MADDRAY, John EMME
Does anyone have Alfred Loftin Haithcock and
Josephine Bobbitt who married in Warren Co. in
1867?
Have not been able to find any children.
Thanks,
Nola

Hi Claude, How are you, that was my reply about the Rev. War. I have a pic
of the headstone, and there is a book on the Allen's and Rose's out, but I
was told there were no more copies being made. Katie

Claude,
Jesse Howard SMITH who married Mary Lillian POINDEXTER in 1915 lived in Benton Co., AR. He is a descendant of William SMITH of Granville Co. (Son
of Gulielmus SMITH) I don't know why I was thinking more of them had moved to AR but he was all I could find in my database. Does his name ring a
bell?

I am trying to sort out the early [c1750-1790] Wood families of
Granville, Bute, Warren and Franklin Counties NC. Accordingly, I would
appreciate any help in confirming the following:
1. John Wood. John Wood who married Ann Britain. John is reported to
have died in Bertie County c1750, and in Granville County c1768. When
and where did John die?
2. Britain Wood. Britain is evidently the son of John and Ann (above),
he doesn't seem to be enumerated on any of the early censuses; but is of
record as ha
I have been researching Gulielmus SMITH and other SMITH's of Granville and Warren Co., NC. The following are individuals who were listed invarious
tax, court, will, estate records connected with Gulielmus SMITH and his family. I know of some of the connections and am trying to locate anyone who
might know of these people so as to track down any remaining connections. I am willing to share the documents I have concerning these people.

The only thing I have on F. SATTERWHITE was that he was owed $5 from Gulielmus SMITHs Estate for crying the property at sale in Aug of 1814. Do you know if this was his main occupation or if he had
done this before for others?

In the books I am writing on the Court Records from 1780 to 1805 I have the following references to Bennet Wood in
the first 3 I have transcribed to date. I am almost finished with Vol. III and it should be ready by Christmas
this year.
Bennet Wood was a familiar figure in the judicial system of Warren County during this period. He attended many
suits as a witness and was on the Grand Jury as well as involved in Deed records.
Vol. I = Wood, Bennett 7 22, 24, 26, 27, 37, 42, 44, 63, 67, 70, 77, 85, 105,

Marie-Paulette it is surprising that as common as the SMITH name is in Old
Bute County there is not a one that I have married to any of Captain Charles
ALLEN s descendants.
I do have information on:
Robert Ruffin SMITH and his wife Sarah SLATTER just over the border in
Halifax County
Col. Samuel SMITH and wife Mary WEBB who migrated from VA to Warren in late
170
