I know that the main public library should have the Omaha World Herald for that time and the obit would be in there. The library does have the Omaha World Herald on microfilm, so getting an obituary shouldn't be a problem. You will have to go to the courthouse in person, however, and provide the appropriate identification and reasons for wanting the death certificate. With these new hippa privacy rules and the identity theft thing, our Nebraska laws are getting more restrictive--or at least the interpretation of them is.
