Hello all. I am looking for my Grandfather's Birth Certificate. My Grandfather was born July 17th, 1915 Born in Omaha, Nebraska Parents were Henry Vernon Smith and Laura Bell Stull My Grandfather passed away on July 24th, 1997 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Hi Nancy, Thank you for offering to help. His name was Alfred H. Bretz, but I think I may have found him. I was sent a message earlier, with a Alfred H. Bretz, d. 3 Sept. 1932, and buried in Graceland Park Cemetery. It may be him; the dates I gave of 1947-1952 were only a estimate from his sisters obits. Ancestry has it indexed as Kissel. Which is what it looks like to me. I'll check to see if they are listed in another census to check the spelling. Roberta, What is the name of the Uncle you are looking for? I have a Database from the Omaha World Herald from 1950-1959 of Obits. I should be able to give you the date of the paper and page if he had a obit in the morning edition. The database tells name, age, spouse, parents if child, date & page of paper and cemetery, if it was listed in the obit. The database contains 33, 438 obits. I want to thank Martin and Nancy on this list for the help they have given me that has solved a 10 year search for Marie and Francis Goodenough. All these years I was looking for the families of the two sisters when it turns out that Marie who was born in 1898 in South Dakota was the mother of Francis!!! These papers are primarily on microfilm at the W. Dale Clark Library. Some are indexed, most are not. We have volunteers working on indexing obits, and a young man is helping extract obits for his Eagle project. Since about 1977, obits have been clipped from the Omaha World Herald. The library is hoping to put the index to the obits on line some time later this year. An asterisk will indicate that at least a part of it has an existing index, though NONE is totally indexed yet.
