Hi Folks...
I just wanted to tell you there are new things posted to Hall. There
are many new bios. transcribed AND, I've finally completed the 1860
census. It's not that big, but it's done! I've also finished the
1870 census for "precinct 1" and have it on-line. It was a biggie,
but the other two precincts aren't nearly as large and I should have
them up in a week or two.
If anyone sent a message to me...please resend. I've been so busy on
the bios and census, I just know something has slipped throug
Thanks again to Connie and Paul Ludwig, the Cameron Township Cemetery
is now on-line.
When Hall County was first settled in 1857, it was by Germans who had
come from Davenport, Iowa. They settled on the big island between two
branches of Platte, south of present day Grand Island. They chose the
name Grand Island City, but for a long time the town, and area, was
called the German Settlement. Later, the northern and western
sections of Hall County were settled by "Americans." I guess this
meant they had
Hi folks.....
Thanks again to Paul and Connie Ludwig, we now have Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery near Cairo, NE on-line. At least A through O. Connie is
busily typing away at the remainder. I didn't realize how big Mt.
Pleasant is.
I want to thank everyone for their support and help on Hall County.
We are really growing.

Hi folks......
I've rearranged the "history" pages on Hall County to make them easier
to navigate. I've also added the first chapter to the 1890
Biographical and Historical Memoir book. When you get a few minutes,
check it out. It gives a good account of what the early Hall County
settlers faced; storms, grass-hoppers, Indians, etc. There's part
about a man named Allen that is pretty gross.

Hi folks....
I just added many, many Hall County bios to the Hall County pages.
They can be found at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nehall/bio.html
There are many left to do, but will add new ones as they're
transcribed. My thanks to Larry Coates of Grand Island for his many
hours of transcribing these bios.
Check out the genealogical society page at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nehall/ppgen.html . If you're interested,
the society has "The History of Hall County" for sale.
Take care,
Kaylynn

I would like to thank Kaylynn for all of her hard work that benefits the
rest of us. Living on the east coast, my access to NE records is very
limited other than what I can find on the Internet. It is only through the
work of volunteers such as Kaylynn that these records can be made available
to those living far away. I was so excited to find my ancestors in the 1870
census, and to see my G-gfather's bio online, transcribed by Larry Coates
(thank you Larry!) This has made my day!

Hi All....
I just added a search engine to Hall County. I figured with all the
new information we'd have better luck that way. Try it out, see what
you think, and let me know. I included "Andreas 1882 History of Hall
County" in the search perimeters so the information there will be
available. I also added the "Andreas" link to the link pages.
Funny......I transcribed Andreas for Hall County and completely forgot
about it. Have fun!

Sorry to keep popping up here, but I did want to let you all know the
complete 1870 census is done and on the Hall County site. I also
added information from the Spanish-American War (1898) that includes
the soldiers from Hall County, along with the roster of the Charles
Norris Spanish-American post in Grand Island.
I've taken a long, hard look at the 1880 census for Hall
County........it may be we'll have the 1900 BEFORE the 1880. After
looking at just 6 pages of the 1880, these ole eyes didn't want to

Hi all....
I just ran across a book concerning Hall County. It was published in
1890 by the Goodspeed Pub. Co., Chicago, Illinois. It includes a
brief history of Hall County along with numerous biographical sketches
of Hall County residents. I'll be happy to look for any names you
want to send me. I'm doing some checking to be sure there is no
copyright on the book.
Oh, the name is: "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Adams, Clay,
Hall and Hamilton Counties." I'll even look in some of those *other
