Hi Jim, Is this "Spreadeagles" supposed to be in New Zealand? The only other place name you mention in your post is in Ireland, so I'm struggling to see the connection to this country at the moment. "Spreadeagles" is not known to the New Zealand Geographic Placenames Database (http://www.linz.govt.nz/apps/placenames/index.html), nor can I see it in my copy of the 1952 "The New Zealand Guide". There are two William TURNERs in the 1864 death indexes. Folio 3463 and 4434 both in Auckland. Just watched the episode on John Hurt on UKTV - the 1st of the new series. Did others who watched it wonder why they did not think that Emma's parents were in fact Edward Stafford and Emma nee LORD?? Was pleased to note that in this series they are giving the women on the 'tree' their maiden surname and not their husband's surname as in the past series. Hi Everyone Looking for the decendants of Emma Riley. She was born in Malling, Kent, England in1844. She went with her parents William & Elizabeth Riley and her brother Jacob (b1849) to South Africa then on to New Zealand. Now the point is only records of William, Jacob, George and William jnr have been found on shipping records. Elizabeth died here in New Zealand in Thames so she must have come at some time. It is possible that Emma marrtied in SA nd came here with her husand who is unknown at this time. A
