Does anyone know how I could access old Newfoundland railway employee records? My grandfather was an orphan raised at Mount Cashel. He believed that his father worked for the railroads. This would have been around 1900. Thanks, Sue
Hi,
I also found a John Bishop baptized 1797 in Port de Grave.
Does anyone have this John Bishop in their notes?
I have many John Bishop's but no one born in 1797.
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Lori-Ann

Hi all:
I am doing a search to find out more about the French-Dawe family
connections and inter-relations in the Port de Grave Region. If anyone can
help me out it would really help.
Thanking all in advance.

ORPHAN TRAINS
One of the most remarkable phenomena in history took place in the late
1800's and early 1900's--the orphan trains from the East Coast to the
western sections of America. At the time, the streets of New York were
full of orphaned children or runaways. Crime was rampant and many
people felt that the children could do better if they were given the
chance to be adopted by families out West (sometimes only

I just received the following from Sharon, a friend of Heather.
Heather has "blond" moments. I know the feeling as I frequently have
"senior" moments.
Can you unsubscribe her for a while and make her day a little more pleasant?
If you can, please let Sharon know at samoore@netcom.ca
Thanks guys!

Can anyone tell me if Lower Island Cove is part of the online info of Project 21? I thought it was part of the Conception Bay area, but it is not listed under the Conception Bay North index. Did it have a different name in 1921? I am specifically looking for my grandmother Florence Bursey DOB Oct. 8,1908. She was probably living with her mother Anora(or Lenora,or Anne Norah, or Nora)Snelgrove and her husband Abraham Snelgrove. Thanks, Sue Vanek

As an aside he's a he. Dr. Ryan is a very thorough researcher, so if he
didn't find it, it must be hard to find, and something like murder on the
ice is noteworthy enough that I doubt that he would have left it out of
something as complete as his "The Ice Hunters" if he knew about it.

Good morning;
I've recently discovered a link beteween my WARFORD surname and the
COVEDUCK surname. It appears through some Land Deed info that WILLIAM
COVEDUCKs daughter married a JOHN WARFORD. The Land Deed time frame is
c1830's. Could someone doing research on the Coveduck Coveyduck etc... help
me out with trying to trace this link. Thanks
Hello again,
Here is another piece that is filled with wonderful
memories, names, many many photos and tidbits of this
woman's life and is very interesting.

Thank you for you "lore" on the Hag Andrew. I have never
heard of this and was wondering, do these people wake up or
do they remain paralized? Were the people who would
experience these be then considered lunatic and committed?
(I know it sounds silly but, one just never knows)
Thanks again,
Lori-Ann

It probably refers to a member of a diet/legislature.

Hi,
I am researching the Picco (Picot) families & I have found the following:
Crosbie's entry said John PICCO & Joanna BARTLETT were married Dec 1852
by Rev. Sprague. Samuel Sprague was a Methodist minister in Harbour
Grace at that time.
Can any of thise people researching Bartlett give me any insite on this?
Many Thanks
