8. Evelyn - Paper Mills, "Still Waiting", 1928 - Bottom of Placentia Bay. [1]
I know. My Paternal Grandfather worked in Grand Falls when newly married. When the quote, "Still Waiting" was made in 1928, it made me think of how much we were promised, seduced but the "Marriage" never took place. In light of the current Federal Accord Dilemma, I really believe we cannot afford to give away one more precious Newfoundlander-Labradorian. Every time we have done so in the past, we have given away "A Chip of The Old Block", so to speak. God Bless. Anna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Evel

Couldn't help myself. As a Newfie, I have to encourage you regarding the mail delivery in Nfld. I winter in Mesa, Arizona during. Last January, I mailed a normal size envelope to Phoenix. A mere 15-20 miles away. It arrived in early April. It took over 7 weeks. There is no explanation that I know off. ( the dog team must have died!) I missed attending an event because of it and since a cheque was involved, I almost had to close my bank account and pay 'big bucks' to put a stop payment on the cheque.

22. RE: [NF-ROOTS] ROSE [1]
Hi, Doyle; I'm just catching up with some recent email. I was interested in your recent email because I remember a Stewart Rose who used to paint walls and hang wallpaper for my parents; this was in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY City. Well, I have notes about him in my database, but rather than quote them now, when it might be irrelevant, let me say who I think he was. I think the Stewart Rose I remember was the son of an Alfred Rose--probably the one from Western Bay South who moved to St. John's about 1904.
