1. Re: Samuel Heath [1]
Brenda- I don't believe I have direct help for you, but we may be working on parallel branches of the tree back through Rockingham Co, NH and Amesbury, MA. NOTE: I have the information for the following folks in my searchable, on-line database in my web site http://greggkinney.com and on my Hadley page http://greggkinney.com/hadley.htm I am looking for descendant and marriage information on Samuel Hadley, b. 23 Sep 1746 Amesbury, MA (s/o Samuel Hadley and Judith Flanders), who was possibly the Samuel Had
2. Re: NH Census [1]
George says that NH didn't have any State census. I'm sure that this is true. There are, however, some retrospective state census', and some of these were done several score years ago when it was closer to the time. I can't recall book names right now, but I saw at least two in the LDS Family History Library within the past six months, one for information in the 1700s. I'm sure you could find them on Family Search. Tom Sevy Thomas D. Sevy, MSW, LCSW Grantsmanship Consultant 1617 W. Shenandoah Circle S
3. Re: Census [1]
Dear Pat, New Hampshire never had any State censuses, as some other states did. The federal census records are available from 1790-1920 (except 1890), although portions of the state are missing from the 1800 and 1820 census returns. Hope this helps. 4. RE: Marston [1]
Hi Susan, The ancestry of your Abigail, also known as Abial Marston, can be found on the Hampton, NH library web site: http://www.hampton.lib.nh.us/hampton/history/genealogy.htm The information on this site is taken primarily from Dow's History of Hampton. This site gives the date of her marriage to Jabez Sanborn as 12-29-1716. 6. Rockingham Royalty: HILTON/MARSTON [1]
Rockin' Rooters and MARSTON cousins: When Mary HILTON consented to a proposal of marriage from John (1748-1793) MARSTON, Sr., of Newmarket, NH, she blessed at least one of our lines (not mine, unfortunately) with a connection to royalty. Mary was a descendant of both Massachusetts Governors DUDLEY and WINTHROP. The point of all this is that, thanks to the generosity of a new-found distant cousin, Marston Manor's Royalty Room is back. It is a work in progress as many lines are still to be added to the medi
7. Nottingham [1]
Is Nottingham in Rhockingham Co? I have found two separate references to sales involving a saw mill in Nottingham: one in 1753 from Johnathan Colcord who sells one eighth part of "our" mill; the other, also a one eighth interest sale from Elijah Vickery in 1762 to Samuel Smith of what he refers to as "Dolloff's mill." Same mill? Were there really eight co-owners? George
8. Re: How do I find Quaker information" [1]
Vital records from the Dover Monthly Meetings were published in the New Hampshire Genealogical Record. Some other meetings have been published in the New England Historical and Genealogical Record. The LDS have filmed a lot of the records, including Seabrook. There is a depository in Rhode Island. The trick is to figure out which meeting your folks attended. Once you do that, you will find very good documentation. Here is a webpage that might be of interest: http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/quakfind.htm
9. Re: Exeter Vickerys [1]
Hi George: I am Supt. at the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, N.H. and I will look into my computer and see what Vickerys are buried there if any. Also, I have the names of the known people buried in the old Winter St. Cemetery and will check that out and get back to you. 10. Re: Nottingham [1]
Hi All: Cindy's comment got me thinking. Would it be useful to have a database that gave some specific information on family migrations in a format like the following? Surname Date From Co From State To County To State Gray c1780 Rockingham NH Caledonia VT By sorting such a database by surname and destination one might get useful clues as to a family's origins for tracing ancestry. Likewise, by sorting by surn
11. RRR (A Postscript) [1]
Rockin' Rooters: I have received only 2 responses to my recent attempt to Remonstrate and Regulate. The first one is referred to in my response to the second message which I quote below. My second message came from a distant cousin and friend who misinterpreted the word "Reluctantly" that I used at the end. She (my only identity clue) wondered if that was an indication that I'm tired of administering this list. In case anyone else was wondering the same thing, I thought maybe I should repeat my response pu

13. re:Lydia B. Johnson [1]
My husband's ancestor, Elijah A. Corliss, married a Lydia B. Johnson September 23, 1852. She was possibly born ca1831 in New Hampshire. She died 15 March 1891 at the home of her daughter, Ida Catherine McCormick, in Emden, Illinois. I am wanting to find out her ancestry, birth date and any and all information on her. >There are, however, some retrospective state census', and > some of these were done several score years ago when it was closer to > the time. These early state "censuses" are the following: New Hampshire residents, 1633-1699 / by Jay Mack Holbrook. New Hampshire 1732 census / by Jay Mack Holbrook New Hampshire 1742 estate list / Pauline Johnson Oesterlin. Inhabitants of New Hampshire 1776 / by Emily S. Wilson. None of them can really be considered "censuses", although the 1742 one comes close in some
15. Re: John Mitchell - Chester [1]
Is anyone else looking for John Mitchell in Chester, NH? John Mitchell arrived in Londonderry about 1719, then apparently moved on - maybe to Chester. His son John was one of the early settlers in Belfast, Maine. the third John was a Privateer in the Revolutionary War, sailing out of Boston. The third John was born in NH, possibly in Chester. Would like to find information about them. Mary Kay Lawson mklawson@telis.org
16. re: Betty or Betsy Uternox or Utinox [1]
Betty or Betsy was the wife of Joseph Corliss #2. She and he were married September 1 or 21, 1793 in Salem NH according to other family records. Joseph was the father of Cyrus Corliss who married Phoebe Gordon. Joseph also was supposedly married to a Mirriam Emerson. I can't determine which woman was the mother of Cyrus. He was born supposedly March 27, 1794 which would make him Betty or Betsy's son. However another source in family records says that he was Mirriam's son. The other Children born to J
17. DOW Look-Up [1]
Hello Fellow Rooters! Happy Holidays to all! Does anyone out there have a copy of Robert Piercy Dow's "The Book of Dow?" and would be willing to do a look-up for me? On pg. 200 of Dow's book, he lists Drucilla Dow, b. 1849, as the daughter of Dennis R. Dow and Polly Ann Beckman. I would like to know who the paternal parents and grandparents are of Dennis R. Dow. Thank you so much. Judith in East Texas - grt-granddaughter of Drucilla.

21. Quaker Sufferings - Address [1]
Due to a great deal of popular request, here's the editorial information I have for the booklet: copyright 1998 by William Sessions Limited, The Ebor Press, York, England ISBN 1 85072 212 9. I believe you can write them directly and order from them. I don't have their exact address, but it shouldn't be hard to find.
