Hi Karen,
Thanks for the help with the Crawford's, I have the info from the bible
you listed below. I think my Richard is the son on the last child
Joshua Crawford born June 6, 1737. I have never found anything about
him, but his dad Benjamin died in 1746 and he was born in 1737 and I
think Richard his brother was looked after him, because and named my
Richard after him. Then Richard name his son Joshua.
Here is the information I have on the Crawford family, hope it may help.
This is from the Craw

Joan,
Will continue to look and it's interesting about the names David and Daniel.
Daniel was the name published in the marriage book, probably a typing error
when published....
Have a good day.

It is interesting that Orville Corson in "300 Years.." does not have this marriage
and descendant information for Rachel Corson. He gives only her birthdate, 2 August
1783.
It is especially interesting because Orville does mention John Gandy and Lydia

Hi Diane,
The Cape May list doesn't always have a lot of activity and Gandy is not
mentioned too often. It is a very interesting list and so many Cape May
names are intertwined that I almost always see some connection with some of
my lines. I don't have a whole lot of detail for you. I show Thomas Gandy

Hi Jeff,
I'm sure you are aware that the Randolph Marshall House still stands on
Marshallville Rd. in Tuckahoe, in Upper Twp. It's near the site where my
gr-gr-grandfather, John G. SCUDDER, once lived in the 1850-60s. It's a short
road but very picturesque. Regards, Joan

Hello Ken,
I noticed you follow the GANDY line. While not directly in my Cape May line,
I do have several later references with similar names.
A Randolph Marshall M.D.(b. 9/19/1845) married Sarah Hughes (Mayflower
decendant) and had seven children. One was Ellis H. Marshall who married
first a Hattie Shoemaker and second, a Lydia Gandy with a single issue,
Thomas Marshall.
Uriah Gandy married Mary B. Rice b. 2/1/1855 and had five children; Roxana S,

I know that when I found Daniel written in the Marriage book I thought it was
another SCUDDER but then realized the publisher had made an error after
finding Martha C. Gandy, his bride (m.David SCUDDER). It s

Thanks Karen,
This is the family I have him tentatively linked to based on early Tax lists,
proximity in census lists to other Gandy "family" members, and naming
patterns of children. I'm still looking for any other shreds of evidence. I
have found him grouped with this family in some data in the CMCH HS Library
plus 2 submissons with submitters' names to FHC Ancestral File. I would love
to find a death date for him for poss. death cert. to learn parents names as
a certainty. Thanks for looking.
Thanks Karen, what an interesting piece of CM history. It really helps me put
a bit of life to my Towser/Tozer line who lived in the area at that time even
if they didn't have cattle.

Leslie,
More information for your Crawford search.
Rachel Whilldin, sister of David Whilldin, is mentioned in his Will made 13
February 1762, as Rachel Mills.
Rachel first married Richard Crawford and had no less than two children,
Issachar and Benjamin, who were named in Richard's will made in 1752. After
Richard's death she married a man named Mills, and she is the one designated
as Mills in the Will of David Whilldin. In 1796, the estate of Rachel Mills
was admitted to probate and Uriah Smith
Thanks Karen

Hi Ken,
I also have seen that information or lack thereof. John's birthdate has been
a question for me. I have him in the 1850 Upper Twp. census as age 78 which
would put his b. at 1772-1773. This is the only census that shows age he has
given. In the Cape May Co. HS Library there are many notes and family files
on Gandys. In one of those I found him grouped with this family (John and
Lydia). I question the grouping of John, the grandson to John and Lydia as
being Thomas's son due to him being l

Thanks for your message.
My current interest in the Gandy family is finding a female Gandy who married a
Stiles in the mid to late 1700s. I'm assuming this is what happened because
there was a man named Gandy Stiles (7 February 1781 - 7 April 1850) in Cape May
County. I don't know the name of either parent. But he had brothers George and
Elias. There was an earlier Elias Gandy, so he may have been the connection.
My interest in these folks is that Susan Stiles, who married John Grace, Jr., may
Thanks Sonja, but please see my earlier E mail to the list and Karen. This

Camden, NJ. His parents are whom I seek. Regards, Joan
