thru 1920-if anyone has access to death records for this period-would
appreciate the help.
Francisca MESSNER-140 Union St. Union Hill (City).
I know she was 86 in 1915 and she is on the 1915 city census-which surprised

the Treanton Library in the little time I had to be there-when I went back to
check this out they were closing and I had to leave the n

The difference is that I sent my request through the mail, but in the past

whats going on with them. I am glad that I am not alone on this one,

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has info on a Stevenson family residing on Oak St,
Jersey City. This would have been in the 1920's and one of the women was
named Ida. She corresponded with my gggrandmother and I am wondering if they
were related to my gggrandfather Wm. E. Stevenson. He and his wife divorced.
We have no info on him at all.
Thank you!

The Jersey City Public Library on Jersey Ave., Jersey City has the
Jersey Journal and Hudson Dispatch on fiche. The obits go back to the
mid-1800s.
The New Jersey Room in the library has a card index that is extremely
helpful. It is not complete, but if you find a card for the obituary
you're seeking, it tells the date of the notice, the paper it appeared
in and the page number. It's a great time saver. It some cases, most
of the obituary is listed on the card.
They also have city directories b

Seek any information about James Chambers, listed in 1900 Census for Jersey
City. My great great grandfather lived with wife, Sarah, and daughter Ella
Mae Turner who had two small daughters listed in the census. James Chambers
visited my grandmother's home in the Boston area in 1911. I am trying to
find a death record for James and Sarah, place of burial. Would like to
contact any other descendants of James or his daughter, Ella Mae Turner. Any
clues will be greatly appreciated.

I am going to keep my fingers crossed. How long should I wait until I
contact them? I sent this request at the end of April. Maybe I'll give it
a couple of couple of weeks and see what happens. Hey, as long as I get
something it's worth the wait. They must get an awful lot of requests
coming into that office. You know, a couple of years ago, I called up
expecting to get a recording but for some strange reason a person
anserwered. Well I explained what I was doing and asked her how to go
about it.
Hello...I just received this email from you that doesn't "ring any bells".
Perhaps you sent this to me by mistake? Thanks...Nicci Fritchman

Hi:-
I rand into the same problem with a hospital in NJ. At first they were going
to provide the information for my grandfather, then changed their policy.
They needed proof of relationship. I was going to have to prove that he was
my grandfather by way of, I guess, birth certificates..... So maybe you
should ask them what they need to provide the information.....and if you can
comply, they can't say no. I don't know if the "Freedom of Information Act"
gets into this or not. That might be something to
Thank you all for answering my query about the HOPPE family. I would like
to know more about this pastor HOPPE. My ancestors belonged to the
Protestant religion, but I don't know if they where Lutherans. I think that
my great-grand-father E. HOPPE was born in Latvia, his daughter was born in
Jersey City Heights in 1876, but they may have been living in any of the NJ
cities you mentioned.
Does anyone know if Jersey City Heights NJ was part of Jersey City in 1876
or was it a different city?
