There is lots of information going around about viruses and hoaxes.
Please contact ME BEFORE you send anything to any of my lists so I can
check it out first. This will cut down on unnecessary traffic and
confusion about what is real and what is not. The KLEZ virus is real,
the JDBGMGR.EXE. is NOT. Following the directions regarding the
JDBGMGR.EXE. virus just eliminates a real file and could interfere with
the operation of your PC.
Please CHECK WITH ME FIRST.

I'm looking for information on my grandfather who worked for the Lehigh
Valley Railroad Company from 9/1909 through 11/1910 in Jersey City, NJ.
Would anyone have access to a city directory for that timeframe which might
indicate his address during that period?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I received the following message requesting a map of Hoboken from 1930, and
I have had no success in finding one. If someone on the list can help,
they will probably be helping a lot of people since the project should make
research a little easier.
The originator of the request can be reached at jweintraub@fullerton.edu

Hello,
I'm asking for help in locating a map of Hoboken from as close to 1930 as
possible. I'll use that map as a baseline map for drawing the census

There are two communities called New Durham in New Jersey. One is in Hudson
County, Township of North Bergen. The other is in Edison Township,
Middlesex County.
Based on the "NJ Local Names" booklet that I have - New Durham is within the
boundaries of the present day North Bergen Twp. I am not sure, however,
exactly where that would put New Durham on the map.
(North Bergen Twp was formed from Bergen Twp in 1843. Parts of North Bergen
Twp were split off to Hoboken, Hudson City, Guttenberg, Weehawken Tw

For old friends who help each year, it's that time of year again... and for new people who have never had the opportunity, this is your chance to go to Woodland Cemetery in Newark, NJ, to visit your family gravesites in the security of a group, or for those out of state, to have someone help with pictures and tombstone inscriptions of your family gravesite. Each year we ask the Newark Police and/or Sheriff's Dept. to prov

No, there is not (at least in modern times). However, Garden Street in

Hi gang,
Yahoo! Maps doesn't pull up John St. in Bayonne, which suggests to me that it

Can someone help me identify where New Durham is. I think it is in Hudson
County, but the time frame of my reference to it is before Hudson split
from Bergen, so I am not sure. Thanks.

No appointments are needed for the Jersey City Public Library for any of
their collections. Jersey City's main public library (at 472 Jersey Ave at
Montgomery St) has a full run of the Jersey Journal, the Hudson Dispatch,
and a few other Jersey City papers. However, they only have the Bayonne
Times from the time of its merger with the Jersey Journal. (I'm sorry I
can't say when that was for sure - the early 1950s maybe?) If you need the
Bayonne paper be

OK, I give up!!! I just keep going around in circles with my Patey family. I only have a seven year gap but boy - what a gap.
I am now willing to concede defeat and hire a professional. Does anyone on this list know of a good genealogist that is reasonable and good - that they've used? $100 in my absolute budget and I know that doesn't go too far but I'm willing to take a chance.
Help- please.

I have Delormes Street Atlas USA. It places New Durham at the intersection
of Tonnelle Ave (Route 1 ) and 46th street in North Bergen.

I do not ordinarily send out virus warnings, but this is an exception
since I have researched this one and it is a REAL virus.
If you receive an email talking about a KLEZ. virus you should delete
the message. It is a trap to get you to execute the virus (actually a
worm) by trying to get you to think you are preventing an infection. I
received such an email and investigated at the site:
