All,
Have finally gotten my web site, Home Grown In The Garden State, back up and running at:
http://njsuttonfamily.org. This site includes my research on my Sutton, Jones, Otto and O'Brien lines
and extracts from the Hunterdon Co. Democrat. A search engine is located on the Democrat intro page
to make searching for names in the newspaper a little easier.
Now that I have some free time, it is hoped that I can improve upon the web site and information
contained therein. I look for your input as t

What I am about to ask your help with, I am confident, will appear akin to my attempting to empty the ocean using a funnel, most likely with similar non-productive results. Please make allowances for me, my wife would say, I am having a senior episode.

Greetings,
This Mahlon SMITH, who was married to Phebe DILTS, was according to
his death certificate the son of Jacob SMITH and Ann CASE. Phebe DILTS
was the daughter of William DILTS who died 20 Oct 1848 and Sarah Anna
JOLLY who died 3 May 1842 according to family records.
William Dilts birth and death dates match those of the Rev. War
soldier buried in the Flemington Presbyterian Church Yard, but at this
time that's all I know of him and his wife, although I do have an old
hand written list
Hi Gale,
Only one mention of the name, but kind of a different story, so am sending the happenings of the transaction.

Records of the [John,Sr.] Williamson papers dated 1791 to 1793, show that the family owned two stallions they were putting out to stud and there is a long list of people in the Amwell area who brought their mares to Bold Figure for this service. Among them, William DANBURY....et al. who all paid an average of 1(pound) 10s. for the service. Also, John Garrison, Samuel Graff,
Hi Evelyn,
Thank you very much for the West info. Uriah West may be a GGGuncle, not
verified. He must have been traded (exchanged) prisoner or escaped as he
shows up in NY later.
Do you know if E. Alfred Jones had more than the one volume of "The
Loyalists of NJ" Published? I know of William, James, George, Israel, John
West that were all Loyalists and were awarded land grants in New Brunswick,
Canada after 1783.

Kay and all,
I know that Dennis's website is not available and his latest email address no longer works. A few months ago we had a discussion about when Dennis might have an opportunity to continue the work on his website as it is a valuable resource. After some discussion, Dennis did send an email saying his real job was making significant demands on this time but he hoped to be able to get back to the HCD. He also said that his job kept him traveling alot.
I have not removed the link from the website
It would be a very great loss, indeed, if we no longer have that HCD
resource and I appreciate your pursuing the matter. If Dennis is unable to
find the time to support the site, do you think it can be moved to a
Rootsweb-supported site to ensure (I would assume) greater longevity and
access?

At this time, I am missing my search engine but hope to have that

Hi Don:
The only information that I have on "other books" by E. Alfred Jones is listed under his name as author of :
The Old Silver of the American Churches; American Members of the Inns of Court; The Loyalists of Massachusetts, Etc.
The author acknowledges help received in preparing the manuscript by the following printed sources:
Lawrence and Stockton, "The Judges of New Brunswick and their Times."
Sabine, "The American Loyalists" 2nd ed., 1864
Stryker, "The New Jersey Volunteers."

For those that subscribe, Ancestry.com has just posted the census mortality schedules for years 1850-1880. They do not list relations, so you have to be sure based on other factors that the person you found is in your line (through birthdate, place of birth, etc.) For infants, there is no list of parents, and for married people there is no listing of spouse. As death certificates were not always filed, these are good additional resources, however limited. See below...
Here is part of ancestry's descript
