sons says his grandfather was John LAKE from Hunterdon County, NJ. I
gotta believe he knows what he was talking about, however I have never

Those abbreviations refer to the property owned (and
taxed) by the the family - hh is head of house, 1h
means one horse, 2c is two cows, etc. A number like
140 at the end is how many acres they owned. You can
use this to see just how wealthy your ancestors were.

Hi Sharon -
I saw your posting and was wondering if you have the following person in
your Moore files:
A Mary Ann HOFFMAN born about 1826, who married a Mr. MOORE (Possibly a
John) and they had a daughter named Addie (probably a nickname). Mary
Ann was living in Rahway, Union County, NJ in 1895. Mary Ann is
mentioned in the will of her brother Britton Hoffman, as Mary Ann MOORE,
as well as her daughter Addie MOORE.
Thank you!

The Reformed Church has not gone out of existence--never did. I attend
one--the same as was in NJ in the early days--except we have some amenities
they didn't have then--like organs and pianos, etc.
The Reformed Church went a number of ways. Some of the units stayed together
as they moved west. Others joined in with the Presbyterian Church--which is

with the Evangelical Church, but not until the 1950s. I was born and raised
