Speaking of the Dilts family and Hunterdon County, my GGGF's brother was
Dilts LaRue, born about 1794. He was buried in the Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
His parents were Daniel and Catherine LaRue.
I've wondered if Catherine LaRue was a Dilts. Anyone have information
about Dilts - LaRue connections?
Sincerely,
Jim LaRue

Does anyone know if there are any genealogy organizations in

Hi all,
I need help in finding just where "Pleasant Run" was in Hunterdon County in

census set from the LDS living, not in Somerset County, but in Hunterdon

Hi everyone,
This was sent to me from another list and I feel it could be important
to all of us. I've already visited the site and it appears to be on the

Many thanks for putting those names on
the list. Two of the names solved a mystery
for me although be it sad. Jennie Cook and
Gabriella Cook daughters of Henry and Lucinda Cook. I found these children
buried
close to Henry and Lucinda and wondered
what happened to them. These children were my Grandfathers sisters.Scarlet

Can anyone on the Hunterdon List help with this query from Bob Staats?
I do not believe he is on the mailing list. Bob can be contacted at
rwsta@juno.com. Thank you!
... I have been research the STAATS family in the area on and off for
the last 15 years with very little success. My father was born in the
old Staats family home on Staats Road outside of the village of
Bloomsbury. He is a direct descendent of the Staats family of
Bloomsbury (many of whom are buried at the Bloomsbury Cemetery).

Greetings,
Since we're discussing Julianna Brittains, here's mine. I'm trying to find some parents for my 'orphaned' Juliana Brittain/Britton (1788-1858). She was married to John Smith (1788-1858)of Readington TWP. I SUSPECT she may be a daughter of a John Brittain/Britton (c1761-1822) and his wife Hannah Opdyke (c1760-1820) who were from the Baptistown area of Hunterdon County. I'd love to hear from anyone who might know more about the Britton/Brittain family of this area.
Thanks,

Can anyone tell me if ancestors were here before the Revolution of 1776 did
these Colonists have to be naturalized? Or were they just automatically
citizens of the new America?

Hi Listers,
My great-grandparents (Hoff/Seals) marriage return says their 1895 service
was performed by Gilbert C. Moulsdale (spelling?) in Flemington, but doesn't
name the church. His family was Dutch Reformed & Protestant, hers was
Methodist Episcopal. Does anyone on the list recognize what church (if any)
this might have been?
Thanks,
Diane

This was in the June 13,1900 issue of the Lambertville Record
"Our census enumerators are having troubles of their own in taking the census
around town. To get answers of the numerous questions regarding births,
deaths and marriage, they are often handed an old family bible, to look up
the answers for themselves. One lady, when asked if she had any domestic
animals, said "Yes, I have five children.""

I probably should have mentioned that this bible belonged to Asa (son of Asa DALRYMPLE (Thomas, James) and his first wife Sarah SNYDER) and wife
Margaret CRONCE of Delaware Twp. They had 14 children, who are not all listed in that bible excerpt. I hope there is a descendant out there who rescues it!

Three Bridges refers to the only cemetery there: the Reformed Church
Cemetery. The neighborhood of Three Bridges is located in Readington Twp,
but just a mile from Raritan Twp, very close to Flemington. The Reformed
Church is one of many in Readington and the newest of the reformed church
congregations.
