Abraham Dumont VAN DEN BERG was born 25 Oct 1801 and John Sutphin VAN DEN BERG
was born 17 June 1804, the children of Peter VAN DEN BERG and Femmetje (Phebe)
DUMONT. They were both baptised at Readington DRC.
As there have been so few records found for the VAN DEN BERG family in NJ I am
hoping a DUMONT or SUTPHIN researcher might recognize this family and be able
to provide a few clues. I've found over 30 variations for the VANDENBERG
surname so if you have an Abraham D. or John S.

You can see Mechanicsville on the 1873 Atlas of Hunterdon County. The old
section of Whitehouse, not Whitehouse Station, but the north-east part of
Readington Township was called Mechanicsville. You can also see it in the
1850 federal census of Hunterdon County for Readington Twp, the part that
has the post office "Mechanicsville". What is now the Whitehouse United
Methodist Church was formerly called the Mechanicsville Methodist Church,
and the cemetery where the old church building used to stand is still
Greetings!
An article appeared in the Hunterdon County Democrat on Thursday,
December 27th, stating that an 1850 map of Raritan Township has been
reprinted by the township's Local Historians Committee. The map
pinpoints the location of every house with the name of the owner
written beside it. Also, various points of local interest are shown.
The top and bottom edges contain small etchings of noteworthy
buildings of the time including Reaville Church, Union Hotel and
county courthouse. A small, detailed
I have completed the Excel worksheet for Larison's Corner Cemetery AKA Amwell
Ridge Cemetery (pages 54-73) from "Tombstone Inscriptions From Hunterdon
County Cemeteries".
There were 1100+ names. The Tombstones were copied in 1918 by Mrs. A.B.
Simerson, Jr. For anyone who has ever tried to read a tombstone you will
know that there may be errors. Again I will not proof my data entry so if
you have questions please contact me. I believe these are the tombstones
that were so damaged I could not read

I have found several references to a place called 3Mechanicsville2 in the
old Hunterdon Democrat postings that Dennis Sutton has graciously made
available. Does anyone know where that is in present-day Hunterdon County?
Thank you,

Researching: MACKLIN, TODD, ROBINSON, SHARP, WELSH, SPANGENBERG, among
others.
It is Hunterdon County, and it is located north of Mercer County
(Trenton and Princeton) bordering the Delaware River. Some of the towns
include Flemington, Lambertville, Frenchtown and Amwell.
Hope this helps!

Looking for any information on:
Amos SNYDER b. about 1900-1905. He married Margaret FISHER before 1928 in the
Pittstown NJ area. They have at least one known child; Frances Ella SNYDER b.
8-21-1928 in Pittstown NJ. She married Andrew MAKATURA on 8-1-1947 in Alpha,
NJ.
Frances died on July 16, 1980 in Chiefland, FL.
Amos was the son of Maxwell and (unknown) SNYDER. It is known that the couple
resided in the Hunterdon and Warren county areas of NJ from 1920 on.
Any help appreciated.

Does anyone know where I can find a tombstone inscription list for Mt.
Lebanon Cemetery, located west of Anthony, in Lebanon Township? I am
specifically interested in any Andersons or Littles that may be buried
in the cemetery.
I have just started getting NJHUNTER-L e-mails with attachment. Have never
had this happen before. I do not want to open this attachment because of the
possibility of a virus, etc.
Are you starting to send attachments now or am I correct to be suspicious of
this?
Thank You

I was at the Hunterdon County Historical Society (114 Main Street,
Flemington, NJ 08822) today. For anyone with connections in Hunterdon County
it is well worth the $15 annual fee to join and help maintain and improve
this valuable collection of your ancestors. They have a wealth of
information and are very helpful.
They have the book "Tombstone Inscriptions From Hunterdon County Cemeteries."
I am in the process of creating an Excel worksheet for Larison's Corner
Cemetery AKA Amwell Ridge Cemetery
THis sounds wonderful. I appreciate your work.
