Pam,
Helen EICK d/o Charles G. EICK was adopted by George and Mary
(EICK) HERRMANN because Charles couldn't raise her on his own. Ella S.
GUESTs middle name was Space. It also might be Ella Guest SPACE from
what my Aunt Edith said. But what the obits and everything we have it's
Ella Space GUEST.
So back to Helen she had to be b.ABT Oct 1918 and from what my Aunt
Edith said "Bessie died soon after (04 Nov 1918)". My Aunt Edith will
jot things down as she remembers (on the EICK side.) Oh, BTW Jan
Marietta,
Appreciate your posting the "Tidbits of Hunterdon County Newspapers."
While I am doing the earlier Hunterdon Democrat, I find your tidbits
to be most interesting, especially as they often hit on my Sutton family
names. How large is an edition of the paper (pages)? How often was it
printed?
Again, really enjoy your articles and appreciate the effort you put
forth in extracting and posting them. Hope to continue seeing more "tidbits".
Thanks,
Dennis

L.H. Taylor Firehouse in High Bridge, N.J. was named after Lewis H. Taylor. My paternal grandfather was Lewis H. Taylor, Jr.,
born about 1854 in New Jersey, and died in 1925 in Ventnor City, New Jersey. My Lewis was a mining engineer, and at
the time of my father's birth, 1913, lived at 3804 Locust St. in Drexel Hill of Philadelphia. I would like to find out if my
Lewis H. Tayor is of the same family as the one for whom the firehouse was named. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
There is a listing for a Joseph Van Marter who married an Alice Ann
Polhemus on Sept. 7, 1855 in Somerset Co.
There is also a listing for a VanMater Family in the Genealogies of New
Jersey Families Vol. II. Here is what it says:
"The paper on which these data are inscribed appears to be a page from an
old family Bible. The Van Maters were of Monmouth County. For further
particulars see G.C. Beekman, Early Dutch Settlers of Monmouth County 1901
pp. 64ff.

I have recently been attempting to put together a website concerning the
"Schuylers of Hunterdon county and Allied Families".
At the present time, the data on the site is on the slim side. I invite you
to view the page and see if there are any contributions that you might make.
The website will continue to be under construction for quite some time will
everything is tweaked and perfected. However, I would like to be able to get
some raw data on these pages.

Another call for help on sorting out early Hunterdon and adjacent county
residents with these surnames.
In Henry Z Jones book More Palatine Families 1991 he cites Henrich Dils
as another son of Wilhelm and Eulalia Thomas Dilss and, one or both are
cited in the unrecorded will of Johannes Thomas of Lebanon (1735). In
the same para he says Henry Dilts died 11 May 1787. On 25 Jan 1759 a
deed from the ch and grandch of Johan Philip Kaes (including Philip
Dilts and Henry Dilts Jr. - the ch of Ann Dilts, the

FYI, There are a number of Cases buried in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery in
Alexandria. I noticed the names because I was there searching out my Bloom
ancestors and this cemetery has an interesting way of bury folk
alphabetically. There is a large Case grouping. Hope this helps.

Sorry if this went through twice, I received an error message after I sent it.
Recently, I was on the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission's website. There was a 3 part publication for local grammar school students. One of the articles mentioned a person involved in the Sons of Liberty before the Revolution.
Does anyone have more information concerning the Sons of Liberty in Hunterdon? The article specifically noted Bethlehem Township. My ancestor ADAM HOPE was elected to the rank of
Dear Marshal - Thanks much for the info you sent. I wish I had more

The story of the Kaes' being friendly with the Indians I have seen
before but the interesting saga about Sarah Case was new. Your info is
most interesting and thanks for pa

Thank you for posting what you had. I checked it, because I descend from

I have received so many replies to my inquiry, that I wanted to post a
thank you to the list. I have contacted the state archives and will be
sending for the estate records. The N.J. Archives also suggested that I
check the county records for deeds, so that will be my next project.
Again many thanks to everyone for the help.
